Why is it a stupid rule?

Either way, the owner had the chance to sacrifice bench depth at other positions to carry either a 3rd starting QB or a backup for one of his current guys.

He chose to keep his depth at other positions.

Whether it was by choice or by laziness, there was strategic value in this person only carrying 2 QBs (more bench depth at other positions in case of matchup/injury). They can't make that decision and then ask for the league to allow them to correct it after their decision was exposed as a bad one.

Again, if you read the original post, this wasn't to debate whether the rule is stupid or not. So not sure why everyone keeps posting about it. That wasn't the issue whatsoever, the issue was what should be done about it in that instance.
