Plummer to Jacksonville? (1 Viewer)

Caught the end of something on the radio about Del Rio cleaning house in Jacksonville and maybe bringing in Plummer. Does Leftwich have any trade value? Maybe Cleveland or Oakland?

This time of year is the same every year. There are a bunch of wild rumors that do the rounds on both radio and in the newspapers, whipped up by football journalists and writers who should know better but have nothing better to write or talk about because the season is over. Randy Moss is being traded for Michael Vick! (this one is a real, if outlandish rumor) Jake Plummer is being traded for Fred Taylor! (or whatever - I just made that one up but it sort of makes sense in this feverish environment) And so on and so forth. It's all good, clean, useless fun. Because we must always remember.a) 99% of these things are pure rumor with no basis in fact becauseb) Trades very, very, very rarely happen in the NFL becausec) The salary cap makes it too difficult

If we're just speculating (and it's early February, so it's not like there's anything else to do), here's what I think the QB shuffle looks like this year:

Garcia to Tampa - he'll run the Gruden offense like Gannon ran it

Leftiwch to Oakland - though the line is stil a huge problem, Oakland isn't known for sound decisions. Leftwich has the arm to stretch the field, and that's what the Boss likes.

Plummer to Houston - Carr can't stay, and Plummer has connections with the coaches.

Other teams who will look to bring someone in: Jax, Miami, NYJ, CLE, CHI, DET.

QBs likely to be available: Harrington, Ramsey, Huard, Brooks, Bledsoe, Brunell

My main problem with Jacksonville letting Leftwich go is that I just don't see how Garrard was the answer for them, and I don't see too many guys who are that appealing in FA.

Clean house? I'm not sure what cleaning house means. The quarterback position is a major concern and a field-stretching WR is needed, but other than that, the Jags have good depth, have a young team, and have a healthy cap.

If somehow Lefty,Plummer and Carr all find new teams in the off-season, MN better be in the running for 1 of the 3. Although T. Jackson is a 2nd year player, Alabama State and a year on the bench does not prepare one for the NFL.

Interesting speculation.Garcia to Tampa is a perfect fit, but, with two consecutive years where McNabb went down with season-ending injuries, Philly would be crazy to let him go.Leftwhich to Oakland , is suicidal for the Raiders. by your own admission, the O-line has problems.Leftwhich is a statue who is so immobile, he'd get pounded on every play by d-linemen.Damon Huard proved he can play at a high level, and deserves a shot as a starting QB somewhere, if not in KC. Plummer in Houston makes perfect sense. A mobile QB who can throw the longball. AJ would be a beast with a QB like that.
