Possible Trade (1 Viewer)

I have the opportunity to trade away Jordan Howard and Cameron Meredith for Sammy Watkins and Michael Thomas.

I'm 8-2-1 and in 2nd place. It's a 12-team, standard scoring league. No PPR. We start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 DEF, and 1 K.

My team breaks down as follows:

QBs: Tom Brady, Tyrod Taylor

RBs: Melvin Gordon, Johnathon Stewart, Doug Martin, Jordan Howard, Tim Hightower, Kenneth Dixon

WRs: Odell Beckham, Antonio Brown, Cameron Meredith

TEs: Jimmy Graham, Eric Ebron

I stream DEF and K.

I'm torn if I should make this trade or not.  Even if Watkins becomes a stud again there's still a chance I wouldn't start him because there's no way I'll be benching Brown or ODB in the playoffs, even in tough match-ups, and Thomas would almost assuredly not crack a spot in my lineup.  That leaves only the Flex spot for Watkins or Thomas, but since it's not a PPR league its almost always more beneficial to start a third RB in the Flex spot.  On the other hand, I only have 1 WR on my bench right now. If ODB or Brown got hurt I'd be in some real trouble so maybe I should sacrifice some of my RB depth to increase my depth at WR.  What are your thoughts?

Just to add it in, this is for a league I'm in with friends in or 7th or 8th year.  I've made the playoffs every year except last year but have never won the championship.  I've scored most points in the league on multiple occasions yet still haven't won the elusive trophy (one year I led the league in points and somehow didn't even make the 8-team playoff field, that's how bad my luck is in this league).  For these reasons I am over-analyzing everything when it comes to my team so maybe I'm just over-tinkering here.

Post a link to your thread and I'll be more than happy to throw in my two cents.

If it was my choice I would make the trade. Your basically giving up Howard for Watkins who has tremendous potential as does Thomas. Thomas will also get better. I Have AJ Green as my stud and now he is hurt. Behind him Alshon J, D Thomas and A Robinson. Point is I thought I had depth and this season not so much. When I look at your WR all I see is OBJ and Brown. Brown or Big Ben get hurt and all you got is OBJ. I look at your RB stable and think this team has some depth and can afford giving up one RB Howard to be safe and strong at both positions.

This is a super tough one.  The bears are a disaster.  Watkins could be huge, but you won't need him unless ODB or Brown get injured.  Losing Howard would't really hurt you either.  Howard has been great, but he seems to be wearing down.

I'm like you and like to flex a RB in non-ppr, so I'd stand pat.  Or counter with Meredith and Stewart or Hightower for Watkins (no Thomas).

After the disaster in Chicago I'd consider Meredith cut-able, so this is a 2 for 1 in my eyes, and I'd prefer Thomas over Howard straight up since I think Howard is going to be seeing 8 in the box all the time with Barkley at QB.  Thomas gets 2 matchups against the Buccs secondary, and if Watkins is healthy should be a borderline WR1.  I'd do this in a heartbeat even with no PPR.

You should also consider -- if you there's no trade deadline -- whether Watkins/Thomas have more value as trade assets.  I'd love to see you pair one of those guys with, say, Doug Martin for an upgrade at RB.  I tend to think that Howard, meanwhile, will see stacked boxes on a moribund offense with unpredictable touches, so I like the upside gamble on Watkins/Thomas.

I would agree with this. You are getting way more value out of this trade, it just doesn't benefit you a whole lot, and you lose a bit of depth at RB.

But your WR depth is even thinner, so I think you make this trade.

Thanks on mine.

I would do the deal. iti mostly a bench move as you said but the overall value is def higher on what you're getting and as has been noted if one of your top 2 wr's got hurt you would be ok (Where as now you would be in deep #### if one of them goes down)
