***Post-Interesting part of Free Agency Mock Draft*** (1 Viewer)

Round 1

1. Kansas City - Sharrif Floyd - DT - Florida

I think they'll give Donald Stephenson a chance on the right side and they've tied up Albert on the left. I know Chiefs fans can't stand to see ANOTHER d-tackle, but too bad.

2. Jacksonville - Dion Jordan - DE - Oregon

The Jags and Raiders were the leagues worst pass rushing teams last year. I think the QB talk is a smokescreen aimed at Arizona and Buffalo.

3. Oakland - Ezekiel Ansah - DE - Brigham Young

Betting on potential here. The Raiders have to know they're a ways away from competing. By the time they're ready, Ansah could be a monster.

4. Philadelphia - Luke Joeckel - OT - Texas A&M

I don't know how they can trust the LT position to a guy coming back from an achilles injury. They've stocked the defense through free agency. It's looking like an offense type draft.

5. Detroit - Eric Fisher - OT - Central Michigan

They lost BOTH starting tackles in the offseason. Reiff probably can't play left tackle.

6. Cleveland - Dee Milliner - CB - Alabama

Adding Kruger like they did in my mind kind of precludes the idea of taking another OLB. Pairing Milliner with Haden would be terrific.

7. Arizona - Lane Johnson - OT Oklahoma

Trust me, I know they're not going to start anyone they have on the roster right now. I just think they'll roll the dice on a 2nd round QB. And they have to be able to protect whichever guy it is.

8. Buffalo - Geno Smith - QB West Virginia

They're not starting Tarvaris Jackson.

9. NY Jets - Jarvis Jones - OLB Georgia

Alliteration and Antwan Barnes aside, Jones would be a lucky steal for the Jets here - Another team that will wait for the 2nd to upgrade the QB spot.

10. Tennessee - Star Lotulelei - DT Utah

Signing George Wilson and Andy Levitre helped turn this into more of a BPA selection.

11. San Diego - Chance Warmack - OG Alabama

Bad scenario for the Chargers here with the top 3 tackles off the board. They salvage it with taking the best o-lineman in the draft.

12. Miami - Xavier Rhodes - CB Florida State

Have to give it to the Dolphins - they're trying. After free agency the most obvious need is corner.

13. Tampa Bay - Desmond Trufant - CB Washington

Adding Trufant to the signing of Goldson would go a long ways toward fixing one of the league's worst secondaries.

14. Carolina - Sheldon Richardson - DT Missouri

Not sure Colin Cole is the answer and his signing just highlights the need.

15. New Orleans - Barkevious Mingo - OLB LSU

Not just because he's played in the Bayou but because the switch to the 3-4 necessitates it.

16. St. Louis - Kenny Vaccaro - FS Texas

Both of their terrible safeties are gone from last year. It might not be Vaccaro, but they're taking a safety early.

17. Pittsburgh - Cordarrelle Patterson - WR Tennessee

For a passing team, the cupboard is kind of bare at the WR position. Re-signing Plaxico Burress? Yikes.

18. Dallas - Matt Elam - SS Florida

I've heard they covet Vaccaro more, but Elam has proven himself during workouts that he should be considered the draft's top safety.

19. NY Giants - D.J. Fluker - OT Alabama

The tea leaves have said that the Giants are high on Fluker and why not? He'd be a big upgrade to the right side.

20. Chicago - Arthur Brown - OLB Kansas State

Nick Roach left and Urlacher has little left. Brown can play multiple positions until settling in in the middle in the next year or two.

21. Cincinnati - Manti Te'o - ILB Notre Dame

They re-signed Maualuga, but so what? He's one of the worst linebackers in the league. Te'o in the middle and Burfict staying outside makes this a solid duo.

22. St. Louis (from Washington) - Tavon Austin - WR West Virginia

Too much talent to pass up here. They have to stockpile WRs until they have a full set.

23. Minnesota - Keenan Allen - WR California

Perfect fit for the offense. Along with Tavon Austin, he has the lowest drop rate of the top-tier receivers entering the draft. 2/3 of his passes were caught within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.

24. Indianapolis - Jesse Williams - DT Alabama

A big body for their currently undersized 3-4 scheme. Lots of rumors around this one.

25. Minnesota (from Seattle) - Jonathan Cooper - OG North Carolina

Hidden in AP's performance was how mediocre Fusco and Johnson were. This could make things more interesting.

26. Green Bay - Tyler Eifert - TE Notre Dame

Thompson likes to draft for value and this is the definition here. I can't see them hanging on to Finley much longer.

27. Houston - Alec Ogletree - OLB Georgia

Of course WR is an option, but given the injury bug and defections hitting the LB unit, Ogletree would be tough to pass up.

28. Denver - Bjoern Werner - DE Florida State

I know I'm on a limb having him go this late but there have been a lot of rumbings about him being "high motor but unspecial". And there just aren't that many spots for a 4-3, just okay end these days.

29. New England - Johnthan Banks - CB Mississippi State

Who knows with New England? But their corners are always in need of an upgrade and were exposed in the playoffs.

30. Atlanta - Cornellius Carradine - DE Florida State

A risky pick and they might be looking for more of an instant impact, but if healthy the guy's going to be good.

31. San Francisco - Jonathan Cyprien - SS Florida International

Losing Goldson was a blow as was signing Craig Dahl.

32. Baltimore - Kevin Minter - ILB LSU

Ray Lewis and Dannell Ellerbe are gone. Ravens need a major infusion at the ILB spot.

Round 2

33. Jacksonville - Matt Barkley - QB Southern California

34. San Francisco (from Kansas City) - Jamar Taylor - CB Boise State

35. Philadelphia - Ryan Nassib - QB Syracuse

36. Detroit - DeAndre Hopkins - WR Clemson

37. Cincinnati (from Oakland) - Eddie Lacy - RB Alabama

38. Arizona - EJ Manuel - QB Florida State

Cleveland - Josh Gordon - Supplimental

39. NY Jets - Tyler Wilson - QB Arkansas

41. Buffalo - Datone Jones - DE UCLA

49. NY Giants - Margus Hunt - DE Southern Methodist

50. Chicago - Justin Pugh - OG Syracuse

51. Washington - Terrance Williams - WR Baylor

52. Minnesota - Jon Bostic - ILB Florida

53. Cincinnati - Kyle Long - OT Oregon

54. Miami (from Indianapolis) - Alex Okafor - DE Texas

55. Green Bay - Travis Frederick - C Wisconsin

56. Seattle - Markus Wheaton - WR Oregon State

57. Houston - Justin Hunter - WR Tennessee

58. Denver - Jordan Poyer - CB Oregon State

59. New England - Kawann Short - DT Purdue

60. Atlanta - Vance McDonald - TE Rice

61. San Francisco - Da'Rick Rogers - WR Tennessee Tech

62. Baltimore - Aaron Dobson - WR Marshall

Round 3

63. Kansas City - Gavin Escobar - TE San Diego State

64. Jacksonville - Darius Slay - CB Mississippi State

65. Detroit - Leon McFadden - CB San Diego State

66. Oakland - Robert Alford - CB Southeastern Louisiana

67. Philadelphia - John Jenkins - DT Georgia

68. Cleveland - Mike Glennon - QB North Carolina State

69. Arizona - Dallas Thomas - OT Tennessee

70. Tennessee - Corey Lemonier - DE Auburn

71. Buffalo - Khaseem Greene - OLB Rutgers

72. NY Jets - Giovani Bernard - RB North Carolina

73. Tampa Bay - Sam Montgomery - DE LSU

74. San Francisco (from Carolina) - Jamie Collins - OLB Southern Mississippi

75. New Orleans - Trevardo Williams - OLB Connecticut

76. San Diego - David Bakhtiari - OT Colorado

77. Miami - Johnathan Franklin - RB UCLA

78. St. Louis - Sio Moore - OLB Connecticut

88. Green Bay - Montee Ball - RB Wisconsin

89. Houston - D.J. Swearinger - FS South Carolina

90. Denver - Christine Michael - RB Texas A&M

91. New England - Quinton Patton - WR Louisiana Tech

92. Atlanta - Logan Ryan - CB Rutgers

93. San Francisco - Brian Schwenke - C California

94. Baltimore - Shawn Williams - SS Georgia

Darius Slay to the Jags in third is an interesting pick. I suspect he is too weak against the run to play in a Gus Bradley defense but he has some size and they might think they can coach-up his run defense.

Floyd going to KC would be a mild surprise to me, and I personally don't even think that he's even a top 10 talent from what I've seen. But I'm honestly not sure where they're going to go at #1. But overall, from a needs perspective I like it. Although the PHI-Geno Smith rumours are starting to scare me.

I'm honestly not taking a shot at you but Floyd is now a near-universal top 10 pick in the draft.

Oops. I have Detroit taking a WR in the 2nd and 3rd.

They should have taken a CB in the 3rd and Patton falls somewhere else in that round.

To keep it simple, I'll just put Leon McFadden to the Lions, bump Patton down to the Pats and kick Honey Badger out of the top 3 rounds. I know he won't give a ####.

Oh I'm well aware, every mock I've seen lately has him pegged as a top 5 pick, but I just don't see him as that kind of talent personally.

Good job Andy

I haven't gotten around to absorbing all of the FA signings and their impact on how it will shake out the draft and those FA signings keep popping up to change things but just to going over and commenting on the top-four picks.

Round 1

1. Kansas City - Sharrif Floyd - DT - Florida

I think they'll give Donald Stephenson a chance on the right side and they've tied up Albert on the left. I know Chiefs fans can't stand to see ANOTHER d-tackle, but too bad.

I really like Sharriff and feel confident that he is going to have a rock solid NFL career and has potential to be a game-changer but I think the KC personnel moves point towards OT Luke Joeckel. They let OT Winston walk and didn't extend OT Brandon Albert, they only franchised him securing him for one year. Long term they still need an OLT and Joeckel seems like a solid long-term answer.

2. Jacksonville - Dion Jordan - DE - Oregon

The Jags and Raiders were the leagues worst pass rushing teams last year. I think the QB talk is a smokescreen aimed at Arizona and Buffalo.

I'm a bit leery of Jordan's lack of pass rush moves, zero bull rush, zero inside sacks, all came outside. If KC takes Joeckel as I believe then Sharriff will be here and I like his talent too much to pass up especially since I'd have to be sure Jordan could change up his pass rush moves and that is someting I doubt right now.

3. Oakland - Ezekiel Ansah - DE - Brigham Young

Betting on potential here. The Raiders have to know they're a ways away from competing. By the time they're ready, Ansah could be a monster.

I like Ziggy and its a good spot but the Raiders lost DT Desmond Bryant and look to lose DT Richard Seymour so I think DT Star Lotulelei goes here IF HE CHECKS OUT MEDICALLY. Right now I agree the Raiders could get 'Ziggy wid it' but IF Star checks out medically I think he'll be the choice.

4. Philadelphia - Luke Joeckel - OT - Texas A&M

I don't know how they can trust the LT position to a guy coming back from an achilles injury. They've stocked the defense through free agency. It's looking like an offense type draft.

The Eagles checked off a few items on the grocery list with their FA signings.

- pass rushing line backer, LB Barwin Conner signed 'check'

- corner back, CB Carry Williams signed 'check'

- nose tackle to run their new 3-4 scheme, NT Isaac Sopoaga signed 'check'

That leaves OT so Joeckel could be the guy if he falls or OT Eric Fisher oe even OT Lane Johnson. I wouldn't close the door on CB Dee Milliner or even QB Geno Smith. The Eagles are the toughest to figure out in the top-four considering their FA signings which opens the door for them going in a number of directions but I think they might go with another pass rushing linebacker and even though I'm not sold I can see OLB/DE Dion Jordan going here.

Geno to the Bills scares me almost as much as the Jets. As a 1.01 owner in a superflex, those are the only realistic landing spots I'd truly hate. Would love to see him to the Eagles, Jax, or Arizona.

Not to derail this thread but why not Buffalo?Decent weapons there in Stevie, Graham, Chandler and Spiller. Decent line. I'm sure they'll draft some talent too. Should be a day 1 starter. Seems like a pretty good gig to me.

5. Detroit - Eric Fisher - OT - Central Michigan

They lost BOTH starting tackles in the offseason. Reiff probably can't play left tackle.
This is starting to make the most sense. They took care of a couple of other positions in FA but the OL has to be addressed sooner or later.

I think you did a good job with the Dolphin picks, but I see them grabbing another OT in free agency now that Long has left. Love the Franklin pick.

I like that draft for the Vikings...but I can't believe you don't have Sylvester Williams anywhere in the first three rounds...he would be my pick for the Vikings in the third (or the 2nd). If you replace Brandon Williams with Sylvester Williams in the third, that draft would be a dream for me!

I'm okay with that. I'm really wondering what the Vikings are going to do at the MLB spot.

Now looking at rounds 2 and 3...would love Frederick in the 2nd and Ball in the 3rd.

I like EDS at C a bit more than some others...but we need depth there and if EDS falters at all, good to have a very talented kid behind him.

And Ball in the 3rd is great value.

You say "decent weapons"; I see "one of the bottom 5-6 receiving cores in football". I also don't have much faith in their front office or coaching staff.

I wanted him to go in the 2nd somewhere but it's unreal how depressed the market appears for RB's.The teams most likely to pick a back in the first three rounds are Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Green Bay, and Denver.

I really don't think Te'o will be there when they pick so they may try and move up to get him...

Let's add the compensatories:

Houston Texans No. 95 - Sean Porter - OLB - Texas A&M

Kansas City Chiefs No. 96 - Stedman Bailey - WR - West Virginia

Tennessee Titans No. 97 - Jordan Reed- TE - Florida

The Texans could also look at RT, the Chiefs at LB, and the Titans an RB.

Unless he has chronic hammy issues, which I don't think he has, I don't see teams letting him drop into the 2nd round if they believe in what they see on tape.
It's not a reflection of my belief in his talent. I'm a believer.I just don't think anyone thinks he's a "top half of the draft" player. And teams drafting in the 2nd half probably aren't looking for a RB.But I wouldn't be surprised if he was taken by one of them either. Yes, I'm hedging all kinds of bets here.

As a Bengals fan, I'd love to get Lacy in the 2nd. Not crazy about T'eo in the 1st, though. Watched him get run over by Lacy too many times. We've already got one LB that can't tackle.

I think they're happy with Burfict on the inside but regardless they need LB help. Ogletree would be good - we've had so much luck with Georgia LBs (Thurman, Pollack).

I assume the OT is anticipating Andre Smith not being signed?

More of a depth thing. He could play either LT or kick inside.

I think you might be right that I whiffed on Sylvester Williams.

This is bad for the Chargers but I suppose it could be worse. I believe Johnson is the best OL in the draft and I'll be extremely disappointed if the Chargers don't get him.

Makes sense, he's used to playing with a terrible QB.

17. Pittsburgh - Cordarrelle Patterson - WR TennesseeFor a passing team, the cupboard is kind of bare at the WR position. Re-signing Plaxico Burress? Yikes.
They need a WR, but they taken only 4 WR's in the first round in the past 30 years.

But they did so very recently in '06 to get Santonio Holmes.
After that experience I think they'd be even more gun shy about Patterson who doesn't come across very well in interviews. I could see them going with Keenan Allen, a lesser talent but a good character guy.

You have Long going in the second round... 53. Cincinnati - Kyle Long - OT Oregon

That is about as high as I've seen him projected. Not necessarily disagreeing I just kinda hope that he falls further so that my Rams could grab him in the third or fourth. I suppose that's wishful thinking. Your projection is probably closer to the truth.

You put a lot of thought into these. Nice work. Thanks.

I might be on to something with that Werner slide to the Broncos:

"SI's Chris Burke believes a lot of the earlier luster around FSU DE Bjoern Werner "has worn thin."

"It would not surprise me all that much to see Werner slide a lot further than most people expect come draft day," Burke writes, after ranking the pass rusher at No. 12 overall. "He produced big numbers at Florida State and could replicate that performance in the right situation.""
