I have used Stubbs. Great stuff too.Main ingredient is HFCS, just like most of the stuff at the store. Stubb's is the way to go.Fat Nick said:Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce --> This used to be much more under the radar, but I feel like it's mainstream now. Best bottled BBQ sauce I've found.

Agree 100% that it's the only way I'll cook salmon. I'll pull the grill out mid-winter just to cook it sometimes.Fat Nick said:Cedar Planks --> Not really food, but if you like Salmon, do yourself a favor and get some. Try soaking the board for 4+ hours. Gives a lot more cedar smoke. I'm to the point where its the only way I'll cook salmon any more.
I got nuts when the wild caught salmon is in season at Costco. I have a cut of it waiting for me to grill tonight.![]()
Have you had a tomahawk chop? Special treat indeed.Bone-in ribeye

That said, I'll give Stubb's a try just for variety, but I'm pretty happy with SBR's.
I'm not really referring to the "healthiness" of it. I'll have to try and soak longer. We always decide on dinner after we both get home (~6:30 or so), so we just don't think to soak that early. I'm almost out of the boxes of planks I bought from Woot.com...I can't seem to find a price as good as I got those for. If you have a good source, let me know.

We get our planks at Costco.
That Edamame sounds interesting...might have to try that...Two high protien, healthy snacks -
1. Newman's Own High Protein Pretzels. I like to dip them in a spicy roasted red pepper hummus, for kick and added protein.
2. Seapoint Farms Dry Roasted Edamame. Low fat, high protein, high fiber, little sugar - and tasty. For some added kick, try the wasabi flavored version instead (it's just not as healthy).

I like cedar smoke flavor but does the skin crisp up that way? It doesn't seem like it would.Cedar Planks --> Not really food, but if you like Salmon, do yourself a favor and get some. Steamed bacon?Yup, frozen is the way to go. Fresh is picked prematurely so that its allowed to ripen during transit depriving it of a important period of nutrient buildup. Love me some organic frozen kale. Steam it together with some onions and a little Bacon. Hell yeah.1. goya canned refried beans - black or pinto, with or without chorizo... these are imo a few orders of magnitude better than other canned brands. i went from buying other brands to making my own because mine were better to goya because goya is just that good.
2. general tip - don't turn your nose up a frozen veggies, especially in winter. they are picked in season and frozen soon after so they actually taste better than the fresh stuff shipped in from the southern hemisphere, while at a better price too.
Personally, I find this stuff to be pretty gross tasting. That said, my son has a dairy allergy, and he seems to be OK with Daiya. For a cheese alternative you can't beat Daiya. The g/f went vegan a couple of years ago and when we make pizza we use the Daiya shredded cheese. It melts really nicely and tastes great.
They add nice texture and a good amount of fiber but I think the health benefits are overstated.Chia seeds.. You can't really taste them but they are great for you.

I bought Dukes one time and loved it...then the next time I bought it it didn't taste the same, it had an odd aftertaste...for me, Hellmanns is the gold standard in mayo.Duke's Mayonaise, we tried this after seeing an ad on TV in Virginia. Makes all the difference in the world in our crabcake recipe. Also second the above poster on Old Bay Seasoning
I'm not a dark chocolate fan in general, but those particular kind bars are delicious.Dark Chocolate and Cherry KIND Bars
I can't do chips. I'd eat that whole box in one sitting and then I'd have to take part in that Otis diet thread. All I do is the Pop chips that costco sells. They taste pretty good, I don't overeat them and they're much healthier for you. The bbq one's are insanely good.

Then what did you say?I went to a Belmont party on Saturday and someone brought homemade jerk chicken with a container of honey mustard that was incredible. I asked where he got the honey mustard and he said "Kens, from the grocery store." Yummy.
"Holy crap! That's good! There's a fantasy football message board I post on where people are wondering what grocery food items are reccomended and I can't wait to tell everyone about this." I can't remember where the conversation went after that. I think I may have walked away. Then what did you say?I went to a Belmont party on Saturday and someone brought homemade jerk chicken with a container of honey mustard that was incredible. Will definitely try them when I go "home" to see my mom. Mike-sell's makes the best Green Onion chip I have ever had too. We bought no other chips than Mike-sells (except sometimes my mom would get the cans of Charles Chips delivered).
Is that brand clearly different from most other brands? I have always used Tiparos which is standard fare for most asian groceries but always looking to try better, new stuff.Three crabs fish sauce. Essential for thai / vietnamese cooking, but also super handy any time you need a umami injection. I use it in chili, injections and marinades for grilled meats, soups and other sauces, bloody marys and micheladas, etc... great substitue for anything requiring or benefitting from worcestshire or anchovy
