Last week's position in paren.

1. Green Bay (1) - 5 wins in a row. Would feel better about them if they wouldn't play to the competition's level.

2. Denver (3) - Probably the most well rounded team in the league. Defense is improving and Manning is the boss. 5 game winning streak.

3. Houston (2) - Lucky they didn't drop more after embarrassing themselves v. Jax

4. New England (5) - Best point differential in the league.

5. Baltimore (7) - Going to need home games to make a playoff run.

6. San Fran (9) - Honestly at a lost where to put this team.

7. Atlanta (4) - 7 lackluster weeks in a row.

8. NY Giants (8) - Giving the champs their due.

9. Chicago (6) - They are who I thought they were. Smoke and mirrors doesn't work when you play real compeition.

10. New Orleans (NR) - Making a run.

Dropped out: Pitt - I think they hang on for a playoff berth and make a move once Ben comes back.

Knocking on the door

Tampa - Should have lost this week. While they are hot, they've beaten up on bad competition. Atl and Den the next couple of weeks will be a wake up call.

Seattle - Not impressed. They'll have to beat Chicago in 2 weeks on the road before getting top ten love.

Minn - Chicago x 2, GB x 2, Houston x 1 over the next six weeks. Will be exposed.

Indy - Nice story. At -60 pt net they really aren't a top caliber team.

1. Houston Texans - Simple, Foster + that offense = big favorite in the playoffs, I don't believe they are better than most of the teams on this list.

2. Pats - would be first if Gronk/Hernandez were healthy, lost 3 games by a combined 4 pts, two of which were the most poorly officiated games this year (yes even counting the two green bay games).

3. Atlanta Falcons - Used to be the most balanced team imo, transitioning to a pass heavy offense hasn't seemed to have an affect on their success from last year.

4. Denver Broncos - IMO the most balanced team currently in the NFL, certainly doesn't hurt that Peyton is back to being Peyton, serious playoff contender imo.

5. New York Giants - struggling right now but all the pieces are there

6. Green Bay Packers - have taken a step back, still an elite high speed offense, the defense has somehow gotten worse, I don't think they can succeed in the playoffs.

7. San Francisco 49ers - amazing what they have done in two years in spite of having to suffer through Alex Smith's mediocrity.

8. Baltimore Ravens - would be higher if Flacco weren't such a horribly mediocre quarterback, I hope for baltimores sake that they don't give him what he wants.

9. Chicago Bears - could be the legitimate NFC 1 seed, but the Oline is just atrocious, Cutler can't take as much punishment he puts up with.

10T. Pittsburgh Steelers - Ben is continuing to prove that he is an elite game manager, continuing to be successful with a patchwork run game.

10T. New Orleans Saints

Houston

Denver

San Francisco

(big gap)

New England

Green Bay

Seattle

Baltimore

Atlanta

Chicago

(also rans)

not arguing the ranking...but the defense has gotten worse?Defense is playing much bettrt for them. The offense and their oline is what will keep them from advancing right now...well...and their kicker.

1 Houston Texans - On a roll

2 New England Patriots - +20 turnover differential!!

3 San Francisco 49ers - No idea why people still arent respecting them. They just trounced a 7-2 team.

4 Denver Broncos - The balance they show is scary.

5 Baltimore Ravens

6 Atlanta Falcons - Starting to fade a bit.

7 Green Bay Packers

8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

9 New York Giants

10 New Orleans Saints - winners of 3 in a row. Offense looks unstoppable.

1. Denver...combination of a defense getting better and an offense that can beat you with Manning under center and can run the ball (though, the McGahee injury is concerning).

2. Houston...D and run game again...the recipe for success in the postseason and with a QB that does not make mistakes.

3. New England...yeah yeah yeah, the defense is not great...but Brady and that O can do so much...even without Gronk.

4. San Francisco...the defense and Oline are top notch.

5. Green Bay...would feel better if they could kick a field goal or block anyone. But Rodgers is just too good. I want to put them above SF...but can't right now after getting beat by them plus having injury and Oline issues.

6. Giants...big game this week...I still think they are a very good and dangerous team with their defensive front and Eli knows how to get it done when it matters most.

7. Baltimore...the injuries are concerning...but Rice is a beast and that D can still play.

8. Atlanta...have had them low and have not changed my mind about them...an on-paper juggernaut that just is not passing the test to me. And Ryan's play this weekend did nothing to help that at all.

9. New Orleans...very hot right now and Brees is a huge difference...QBs are why I would rank some teams higher and drop others (think San Fran being lower because of it...Denver and Green Bay higher because of great QB play)

10. Chicago...D is still great...but that Oline...plus a concussed Cutler drops them...my point in #9 about QB play is what plays into them being this low right now
