This statement, more than all of your other terrible arguments, really proves you don't know what you're talking about.

There should be no welfare without work. Unless you are paralyzed, all welfare should require a work component.

You can do something. Pick up trash. Restock library books. Sweep the sidewalk. Paint over graffitti. Dig ditches. Fill potholes. Make PB&J sammiches for the homeless. Wash the fleet of cars at city hall. Trim bushes. Mow grass.

We get something for our money, you get money.
You just took away most of the jobs we have people do on community service. And it should be pointed out that the welfare rolls have been trimmed quite a lot, you are mostly down to those who can't work. The welfare queen is long dead if she ever existed in any numbers to start with.
Bolded part is not true at all, not even close. My wife teaches 1st grade. The problem is as bad as ever as she sees these moms with 6 kids on welfare sitting around eating cheetohs all day.Part 2: If you are receiving unemployment you should do some sort of work, too.
Actually it is very true. Sorry your experience isn't a good sample size. Oh and she sees the Moms? What does she do make house calls?
She sure does, twice a year to be exact. Just got finished with round 1 for this year about a week ago. The sample size in her experience is over a 14 year period. Sorry to burst your bubble but you don't have to get your panties in a wad.
 My wife had to do home visits as well. Most section 8/ welfare families she visited had 50" plasmas and dubs on their Caddys....but couldnt afford clothes or meals for their kids.

I wish this thread was at :e: so I could break it up into three threads, two of which should be allowed to sink off the front page.

Back on track:

Pam Anderson is a troll. Fake, dumb, and trashy. There is no sex appeal there.

Robin Williams isn't funny, he's manic. Yelling and silly voices were funny when I was six.

Amen to sushi sucking. Bland + cold + expensive = blech.

While we're at it, horseradish sucks. Herbs and sauces should complement food, not dominate it.

Humans are innately racist, and cultural awareness cannot wipe that out, unfortunately.

Anyone that uses 'ish' at the end of words is an elitist idiot... like saying... I'll meet you around 5 o'clock 'ish'... or I am from the Austin 'ish' area...

I see what you did there. And AFTER I defended your right to have a moronic opinion in the face of everyone assaulting your beliefs. That hurts.

What if you just use 'ish.'For example, "Condoms and all that ish."

We expend way too much time shunning people who may be slightly different than ourselves, (culture, religion, politics, values, taste in music, etc) rather than trying to understand and potentially making each of us stronger people.

:lmao: I have a friend that works in the welfare office and he says abuse is a major problem. At this point, social workers are being trained to encourage the abuse. He's been trained to compliment people buying the big screen TVs and Playstations because "they did well saving money." He is as jaded as they come on the program and, if it were to go away or even scaled back signifigantly, he'd be without a job. He has very little incentive to rail on it like he does except out of genuine frustration. I trust his opinion on this.

I also have a friend, whose wife quit her job at an accounting firm sometime in the early to mid last year because it was too stressful. She poked around for a little while getting odd jobs at some retail places for a few month and got pregnant (which they were trying to do, they planned on her being a stay at home mom). I'm not exactly sure how, but she manages to qualify for unemployment or disability or something for several weeks leading up to her pregnancy and then something crazy like 6 months afterward and it's a significant sum because they're basing it off her income as a full time accountant despite the fact that 1) she quit that job and 2) she hasn't worked there in well over half a year. My friend pull in close to 200k a year and the government is giving them a couple thousand extra. He was shocked, but wasn't willing to turn down the free money.

It's out of control. I don't mind helping people when they're down and out, but those that truly need the help should have no problem kicking back something productive in the form of community service. In fact, I bet they'd be happy for the opportunity. Those out to exploit the system wouldn't like it, but maybe it would encourage them to pick a more productive path. Pick up some trash, babysit the kids of other people receiving money so they can improve the community, remove graffiti, be an assistant in a classroom and all the stuff Weapons pointed out.

I agree with this. My Mom has been teaching for 40 years, and has seen NO dropoff in welfare. In addition, those same welfare families somehow manage to roll in late model cars and have the latest gadgets, but their kids have threadbare clothes and never seem to have eaten for the last few meals...

If you really did do that... then I sincerely apologize... I now proclaim myself from the Orlando 'ish' area... or maybe the Tampa 'ish' area...

This is very, very true. But...it isn't that they can't "afford" clothes/meals they just made a different decision.
tina tina bobina tina?
LOL. The last one that I haven't mentioned is not off of the "tina" line. It is a separate name. I'll post it in a minute.

Cake doesn't taste very good. It's a total waste of calories. Ice cream cakes, wedding cake, doesn't matter. I don't know if I've had ten pieces of cake in my life that I thought were delicious, let alone worth the calories.

Folks on welfare are necessary consumers that allow for many folks to have jobs. If they all worked, there would not be enough jobs for everyone.

eta: reading more than a few posts at a time in this thread gives me the ADDs.

etaII: this thread also reminds me of Crash Davis.

- ET on the Atari is far from the worst video game ever made.

- A higher percentage of owners had a problem with their Nintendo Entertainment System due to a design flaw than XBox 360 owners with the RRoD.

This is accurate. But I think pie is a different animal. I find that desserts often suck or are far too fatty and rich. But a good blackberry pie? Mmmmmmmm.

Our justice system might be one of the better ones in human history, which only goes to show how screwed up and awful human history is that we can come up with a system so backwards, brutal, vengence induced common senseless borish and simply awful. Overall, we suck.
