Post Your unpopular opinions (2 Viewers)

There is only one "right thing" to do about big-time college sports (mainly D1 football and basketball): abolish them.

It'll never happen, but it's the right thing. Big-time college sports try to be 2 completely opposite things at the same time and that will never be reconciled. On the one hand, it's a huge business and feeder system for the NFL and the NBA. On the other, it has rules in place to pretend to be a student-athlete driven entity. It's popularity is largely due to this facade (I want to vomit when people talk about kids playing "for the love of the game").

Minor leagues and semi-pro leagues should be there to feed the NFL and NBA.

Intramural and club sports should be there to give college students a chance to compete in athletics and represent their university.

Truly accomplishing both of these tasks is impossible, yet we let big-time college sports rake in boatloads of cash on the lie that it is possible.

It would hurt, but I'd gladly sacrifice the UNC basketball program for the good of society as a whole.

Other unpopular opinions:

-Trees and hills are overrated (I realize the importance of trees, but I just don't want them near me.) Trees and hills just ruin a good "view".

-Not as much an "unpopular opinion" and more of a "fact that no one cares to acknowledge or do anything about", but there are just too many children in this country. More people need to make the responsible decision to just not have them or adopt.

-The NBA isn't just a league of thugs that don't give a crap.

-On the same note, race is almost always a factor when people hate the NBA.

I'll post for my g/f. Heard yesterday in the car dropping her off at work after I just made and ate some bacon:

Get ready. This isn't for the faint of heart:

Did you pick her up from work again?

My favorite movies are "Transformers" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen".

A movie doesn't need a plot to be good.

Baseball, golf, and NASCAR are boring.

Seinfeld wasn't funny.

Scarlett Johansen is not pretty.

Pets aren't worth the trouble.

I like rap and hip hop much better than classic rock.

I enjoy Brett Favre's antics... except for the sexting.

Community is now easily the best sitcom on TV.

For all the gloom and doom predictions about America related to debt and education and all that unimportant stuff, the only thing that makes me scared for the future of this great nation is how many more Americans decide to watch Two and a Half Men or Big Bang Theory or ---- My Dad Says or whatever other bland garbage is on instead of Community.

I heard that #### My Dad Says beat out the live 30 Rock in the ratings a couple weeks ago. That made my soul die a little bit.And Community is a great show.

Knew we'd agree on something eventually :blackdot:

30 Rock isn't really that funny. Community is awesome.

The Beatles were nothing more then a 'boy band' of their day. They were hot young dudes that came over from Europe and teenage American women went crazy for them. Their music was basically a rip off of american black blues musicians, and was nothing original or revolutionary. Their claim to fame to me is that they were the first major 'boy band' that is it... they basically invented the genere of 'boy band'.
Conversely, what the Ramones did in music history was much more significant then what the Beatles did. The Ramones were the first band to have the term 'punk' attached to them. At the time they started making music, no one was playing music like them. No one played songs with an average length of 2 min at 180 mph sans solos of any kind at a volume of 11. No one was singing about Cretins, Lobotomy's, or Punk Rockers. No one looked like them. They revolutionized the music landscape creating 'punk' music which layed the foundation for future bands like the Sex Pistols, Circle Jerks, NOFX, Green Day, Offspring, and Nirvana. The Beatles wrote a song called 'Revolution' but the only thing they revolutionized is the creation of the boy band.
The Ramones just played 60s pop music off key and poorly. Not a knock as I liked them fine, but nevertheless.

Many Liberals are closet racists, and to hide it, they pander and patronize minorities.. calling those who disagree with them "racists" to make them feel better about their own racist self..

Any beer that costs more than $10 a 6-pack is overpriced. Anything above the Sam Adams/Anchor Steam/Fat Tire price tier is a waste of money.

70% of the country's women should not have been allowed into the general workforce.
:goodposting: Or actually I think women should be allowed into the general workforce but somehow be segregated in some way. I know it sounds impossible but if there was a way to have all-male and all-female departments or floors or offices I think it would cut down on so many problems.

I am looking as well at the destruction of the family. If a kid is lucky enough to have 2 parents these days, they likely both work 50 hours a week and leave their kids at day care for most of the waking day. I would also add that all this BS about "teachers suck", "teachers should be judged by test scores", teachers need more training is way off base. It is the parents who suck, the parents who should be judged on their kids behavior/performance/attendance and parents need more training.

Can't both teachers and parents suck at the same time?

I don't think families are being destroyed. I just think that women (typically) screw up the workplace.

Yes, but teachers take all the heat and parents get a free ride.

Mellisa & Joey is an awesome show. Excellent combination of two teen stars... and there is something about Melissa that is really hot. Maybe because she used to be the teen witch.

:goodposting: way too much drama and gossip.. stay home and iron our shirts, please..

Not every kid is special. You can't grow up to be anything you want. Christmas, Easter, birthdays and any other holiday that "requires" kids get presents just because 365 days have passed are stupid. You want an Ipod, tickle-me-elmo, ps3, or new bike? Do something for it. In adult life, people have to actually earn things, giant bunnies don't bring you a new car or rent money.
