PPR trade offer - redraft (1 Viewer)

Spike

Footballguy
Start 2QB/2RB/2WR/2TE/1 flex RB/WR/TE; very shallow rosters; redraft league

Players on my team:

David Johnson

Devonta Freeman

Andrew Luck

Jimmy Graham

Brandin Cooks

Tyreek Hill

Philip Rivers

Davante Adams

Danny Woodhead

Austin Hooper

Tyler Lockett

Alex Smith

Players on his team:

Antonio Brown

Michael Thomas

T.Y. Hilton

Isaiah Crowell

Eli Manning

Carlos Hyde

Andy Dalton

Julius Thomas

Evan Engram

In the trade, I would get Michael Thomas and Evan Engram and he would get Kareem Hunt and Jimmy Graham.

Would you do this trade?

I'd do it, but start looking at getting some value in a TE deal right away.  The opportunity to have any one of your top 3 WRs at flex is worth the downgrade at TE.  But I'd look for Brate or Doyle as I have little confidence in rookie TEs to make a difference.

in a redraft I do not do this deal.  You can't afford to torpedo your TE position in a league where you have to start 2 TEs, and all you would have is Hooper/Engram if you did the deal. Right now your RBs are beyond solid (DJ, Freeman, Hunt at flex).  If you flip Hunt for Thomas you gain a couple points at flex (assuming Woodhead or Hill would be your new flex), but it kills your TEs badly.  No deal.

Even in a league where Doyle or Brate are available for pickup, I wouldn't do it.  Same reason why in a 2 QB league you don't wait till the end and start your season with Bradford & Flacco.  When you have to start 2 it's more important to have at least one good one.

Pass.

The mandatory start 2TE is really important here.  Losing Graham hurts a lot, plus Hunt gives you great RB depth plus you can flex him.  Getting Thomas would be great, but not at the expense of two important starting positions.

I'd do it but I don't see why the other guy would do it. Only having Brown and Hilton left would leave him woefully short at WR.

I would do the deal just because I'm not a Kareem Hunt fan and Michael Thomas is gonna be an absolute stud... Losing Graham is a big loss to your TE depth and if everyone in your league has to start 2 TEs then it will be super hard to fill that void. With some smart pickups, season-long management, and other trades to fill the TE void post trade I think you could definitely come up much better come playoffs. But it's all up to what you can do with your league

I feel like you could easily turn around and deal package with tyreek or adams for another chill TE and roll with the major Mike Thomas upgrade

Thanks all.

I appreciate the divergent opinions.  Having seen how TE can be a black hole, I'm leaning toward not accepting this deal.  Also, WR seems to be the deepest positions, so I feel like I can always beef that up.
