Predicting Belichick - Can we beat him to the punch for FF match-ups? (1 Viewer)

In the last couple of years (if not more), it seems like Belichick has compiled a number of diverse and versatile players who can he can leverage in specific match-ups or against certain schemes on a week-to week basis. This happens on both sides of the ball - for instance he essentially eliminated and schemed Antonio Gates out of last weeks game. Obviously, you think back to the Pats first SB and his famous decision to always go after Marshall Faulk because he was the fulcrum of the Rams offense. Last year, his hot/cold TE usage between Gronk & Hernandez (until the end of the year when Gronk took over) caused for many FF owners to shake their heads not knowing what to expect.

But we have a decades worth of insight/data right now.

Based on how he's used personnel based on these specific match-ups, do we have any presumptions we can infer based on what Belichick sees and what type of gameplan he plans to deploy? I know he's the best coach in the business but perhaps there is some insight we can offer to the FF community when it comes to BB that can help in discerning what match-ups to avoid/exploit.

I have not found the Pats situation all that difficult to read over the years. What aspect in particular are you (or others) finding hard to decipher?

For the most part, which players he's likely to exploit versus certain fronts/schemes that opposing defenses run.

The Lawfirm vs. Woodhead. Under what circumstances might you expect to see one featured over the other...particularly BJGE. Also, BB felt important enough to remove Gates from SD's offensive game plan. But we had ranked Gates the #1 TE last week. That said, BB's MO is to game plan and remove weaponsnli,e this from opposing offenses. So could we have foreseen this happening to Gates before he put up the goose egg? In upcoming games, can we identify this potentially happening against other offenses?
