Prediction thread -- Indy (7-0) at N.E. (6-1) (1 Viewer)

I think it will be very different from tonights game. I think they will run the ball about 40 times next week.

Pats 24

Colts 19

Study this chart...

Colts Own the Broncos

Broncos own the Patriots

Patriots own the Colts

All you need to know about the AFC over the last 20 years.

Patriots 31, Colts 17

Patriots run it down the Colts' throat, and Brady throws 2 play-action TDs in the red zone. Manning starts out hot as the Colts take an early lead, but the Patriots adjust and shut the Colts out in the 4th quarter.

Colts 20, Pats 17
Only four scores happen once out of every 100 games or more:20 - 17; 1.55% of the time

17 - 14; 1.25%

27 - 24; 1.14%

13 - 10; 1.00%
Okay. Does your historical data indicate how the woeful Colts D will hold the Pats to 17 points?
No, but by guessing 20-17 you'll be right more than any other score (note: this is TMQ's shtick). If you really want to make it 27-24 Colts, be my guest. :)

Pats win, 30 to 23. I hope I'm wrong.

Edit: If Addai gets most of the carries, 30 to 27 Pats. If they foolishly try to split the carries between Rhodes and Addai 50/50, 30 to 19 Pats.

NE has given up 87 points to these offenses:

Buffalo x2- McGahee/trash

J-E-T-S- trash/Penny

Minny- C. Taylor/trash

Miami- R. Brown/trash

Cincy- Rudi/Palmer

Denver- Tatum Bell/trash

They've played exactly 1 "explosive" offensive team in Cincy who also happens to not be playing very well.

The Colts have played these offensive teams and issued 153 PA:

Giants- Tiki Barber/Eli

Texans- trash/Carr

Jaguars- FT and MJD/Lefty

J-E-T-S- trash/Penny

Titans- trash/trash

Redskins- Clinton Portis/trash

Broncos- Tatum/Mike Bell/trash

The Colts are 2-0 against like opponents; having won both games on the road.

The Pats are 1-1 against like opponents; 1 win at home, 1 win on the road.

Matchup looks pretty even on paper.

I predict the Pats rush for 150/1

Pass for 250/2

2 FGs

The Colts rush for 95/1

Pass for 345/4

2 FGs

Final score: Colts 41- Pats 27

And, like everyone says, this is only a regular season game. So, there is no pressure on PM to win this one. Unless, ofcourse the Pats win, then this will be called a "big" game, in which only Brady can win.

I'll eat my shorts if the Patriots let up 41. You cannot be serious.
You do realize that the Colts won in Foxboro just last year 40-21, right? And, now, the Pats have a short week to prepare.Yes, I am serious!
You do realize Tom Brady is 7-1 against the Colts, don't you?Yes, I am serious! We need to merge these threads - I can't run around the forum all day countering your ridiculous Colts Kool-Aid drinking.Gonna be a looooooooooooong short week.

So, their 53 man roster is all named Tom Brady? Or has their roster changed over the years? Like last year, when the Colts won 40-21.

Yes - their roster has changed over the years. A lot. And Tom Brady is still 7-1. That's the point.Hey, I'm glad the Colts won 40-21 last year - that's great. I bet if they hadn't, you'd be talking about career numbers and whatnot, and since Manning has been dominated by the Patriots for his entire career, I'm glad that you have ONE game to hang your hat on - really I'm glad, otherwise you'd really have nothing to talk about.I concede - the Colts beat the Patriots. Once. Brady is 7-1. Belichick is 9-1. You won a game. Congratulations.Doesn't change the reality that the Colts will not sniff 40 points next week, and a strong gust of wind has a better chance of slowing down the Patriot running game than the TERRIBLE LAST PLACE RANKED Colts running defense. But I guess that doesn't matter - after all, the Colts won last year 40-21 :lmao: maybe that'll help them stop the run this weekend.

The NE pass defense hasn't been stellar but they get the job done. How do you all see Bellichick addressing Harrison and Wayne? Denver gambled and lost, the other dude couldn't keep up with Wayne. But do you leave Harrison open instead?

I wouldn't put that much stock in the Colts sub-par performances esp. against Tennessee. It seems after the bye they are hitting all cylinders at least offensively. That run defense will have to get better for them to do anything.

Frankly I think the score will be similar to the Denver/Colts score and I think the Colts win it 31-27. And this is the first time in the last 4 years that I have picked against my own team in this series so hopefully I'm dead wrong. :)

The Patriots have been pretty boring to watch this year. Almost every game has been one sided in the Patriots' favor. The Denver game was one sided the other way. The reason for this is that the Patriots are able to run or pass the ball effectively enough to exploit the opposing team's weaknesses on defense, which has worked against everyone but Denver, who (especially early in the season) was simply stronger on defense than the Patriots were on offense at virtually every offensive vs. defensive matchup.

The Colts, on the other hand, have struggled in several games, but are undefeated. The reason for this is that teams have run on them very successfully, but they've been able to pass their way back into games, and they can stop the run late in the games by playing situational football.

I don't think the Patriots will come out running the ball exclusively. They need to keep the Colts off balance if they want to run the ball successfully. I don't think the Colts will come out running enough. They don't seem to like letting the Patriots shorten the game. I think the Pats' run/pass ratio will be 55/45, while the Colts will be 60/40 pass. I think the Patriots will be gashed by big plays on defense, but will be focused on playing situational football, stopping the run on first down, stopping the pass on second, and trying to force Manning into third and longs. I think the Colts will try to stop the run early, but will get beat over the top by a deep pass and generally look off balance defensively for most of the game. And if the game works out the way I'm expecting, the Patriots would have to be favored.

Patriots 31, Colts 24.

Perfect logic! Thanks for the great post BF. You're probably right in that the game will come down to making the stops in key situations. The Colts have a knack of making the big play. So do the Pats. If enough stops are made, then the Pats could win. I just happen to think this won't be the case and therefore The Colts offense is more explosive than the Pats. In a shootout I like the Colts. This is the reasoning for my 41-27 prediction.

Fair enough. Manning threw for 321/3 last year. I don't think my prediction is too far off.
I congratulate you for going out on a limb and putting up this stuff. I appreciate that you are pumped for the colts but I think everyone here would like for you to turn it down a bit. Relax, the game is six days away, don't break a vessel prior to it. Patriots 19 Colts 10

In his defense - there are a ton more Pats fans than Colts fans on this forum and he's the only Colts fan going out on the limb saying that the Colts will win comfortably. Let him have his opinion.

Honestly, I think BB is going to go with a 4-3 this game so he can blitz the hell out of Manning and make him uncomfortable in the pocket.

A comfortable Manning = a winning Manning, Belichick will find ways to throw his timing off.

And that Duane Starks and Tyrone Poole are no longer in the defensive backfield :X And djcolts...hey, I respect him on the fact that he is putting props out to his team and putting out a score like that on limb. I just want to encourage him to pace himself, not knocking him...

I'm not going to burst an artery. I realize when the game is. I am just defending my position. The Pats are a great team. They have had tremendous success this decade. I give them their props. But, for this one game(not this post season or the last 20 years), I think the Colts show why they're to be considered one of the best regular season teams ever.Go Colts!

While watching Min/NE I overheard this comment in the bar last night, and I quote, "Wow, Brady looks good tonight, he's almost as good as Peyton Manning."

:lmao:

PATS 31

INDY 17

Colts - 26

Pats - 24

Gostkowski or whatever his name is misses a 42 yarder at the buzzer. the story all the next week is what a brilliant FA signing Vinatieri was.

should be a great game.

Patriots 32Colts 27
Funny thing is that I in particular, and most of the Colts fans in general, do not whine on these boards. If we get beat, we get beat. The Pats have had our number over the past few years for sure. I cannot and am not trying to argue with their success. I am just talking about this one game!
