Here's the way I see day 1 of this year's NFL Draft shaping up...

I'll post commentary as people question my skillz as a mocker...

ROUND 1

1.16 Green Bay - Brian Leonard, RB
No God Please NoWhile I would love to see him go that early (RU grad here) I am a Viking fan. This is the last place I want to see him go.

I want a Leonard Pro Jersey to go with my RU one. I cant do that if he goes to the stinking pack

Yeah sorry.. I know that is higher than prolly anyone else has him going... Just a feeling..I think they are looking for another TE or receiver for Favre to throw to and Leonard is almost like an H-back out of the back field (think Chris Cooley)... I think he'd be a nice supplement to Morency as well..

You gotta do something interesting in your draft to make it stand out from the billion other drafts posted in this forum

I think you've got the draft order mixed up. Detroit picks #2 and Tampa picks #4 naturally.

So Tampa can't trade the 1.02 to get up to Oakland's 1.01.

And Arizona can't trade the 1.05 to Detroit for the 1.04.

So Tampa gives up Rice, the 1.04, the 2.32, and the 3.04 to draft a guy that may be there at 1.04?
To go from 1.04 to 1.01 that's actually about right.. I'm not saying it's the smartest move in the world... I just believe the talk that Gruden is crazy about CJ... It makes too much sense -- there's pressure on him to win and win now... CJ is the type of player that can come in and immediately make that offense better in year 1...I have to humbly disagree with your assertion that CJ might be there at #4... I know a lot of mocks have it playing out that way right now, I just don't see it happening -- Oakland could take him; Cleveland could take him; and if neither of them want him, somebody will trade up to get him...

ETA: In this scenario, the Bucs still get to keep their high 2nd pick... That's pretty good to be able to move up to #1 overall and still keep the #35...

Houston:

A. Okoye- works a quick inside player

Kolb- I would not like this at all as it would only make sense if Houston had kept Carr. After spending two 2nd rounders and a nice contract on Schaub, they spend a first day pick on a guy they hope will never play a down for them over the next three years? Do you think Casserly is still running the draft?

Right, I'm saying that Tampa is going to make a deal with Detroit to swap picks -- then Tampa moves Detroit's #2 pick to Oakland and Detroit moves Tampa's #4 pick to Arizona...I'm pretty sure I got it right...

Aha. Thanks for clearing that up!

Schaubb hasn't started too many NFL regular-season games.... Remember A.J. Feeley anyone?Kolb is just an insurance policy in case Schaubb is not the real deal -- you don't typically have to pay 3rd rounders too much money.... Plus he's a local kid...

You must have missed last year's draft if you think Houston cares about local kids. So a college kid that played in gimic offense for his entire college is insurance. the point is whether you think Schaub is the real deal or not, the Houston administration has just spent draft picks and money as though he is and developing QB is had better be far down the list of priority even at third round $$$ costs. If this is the 5th or 6th, so be it. You could litetally have plugged in any position except QB and it makes good sense. Here is hoping you are not pyschic. BTW, this is mild to my reaction if this actually happens.

Don't worry, last year I had a "vision" in the middle of the year that Cincinnati would play the Giants in the Super Bowl -- my pshycic abilities are a little rusty to say the least...I've probably got this one wrong, but hey if you people only have a real problem with one of my picks in a 3-round mock, then I must've done a pretty good job :loco:

This would shock me. As good as it seems some posters here think Turner is and as much interest as we know he's gotten, why wouldn't Green Bay just throw in their 3rd rounder and get Turner.

Because Morency is as good as Turner...Leonard to Green Bay is not an indictment on Morency.. Leonard going here, to me, is more of a function of Olsen being gone...

I don't see it...Ted Thompson is a best player available kind of guy if he cannot trade down. With Olsen, Lynch, and Revis gone, he will try to trade down...if not he will go BPA...and there is no way that Leonard (who might even fall to them in the 2nd) is the best player available.

no reason miami makes that trade with atlanta.....no team after miami at 9 is going to trade up with atlanta to nab that pick. So miami would be better to just stay put. If Miami does want quin a trade with minny or ealier would make more since.

Wow, I would be interested to know why you think that. All Houston could get for Morency was Gado. There are multiple teams talking to SD about giving up high draft picks just to sign Turner to a $$$ deal. Not sure a lot of NFL GMs agree with you on this one.I honestly disagree, but since neither of these guys has had enough time to really show anything, I guess Morency could end up being better.

Leonard will be lucky to go in the 1st round. There is no way Teddy T drafts Leonard at pick 1.16, simply isn't a good value pick there. Ted either trades down in the round, or he grabs a better player. I like Leonard, but not this high. Would prefer to see him at the same spot in round 2.

I highly doubt Oakland comes away with 5 selections in the first 3 rounds, but if they do, I would hope they use at least one selection to draft a speed rusher.
