SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
Well, they all do, really. Car insurance companies are a sham.
So when I hit the deer, I used their app to submit my claim. I did it about 10 minutes after hitting the deer. That was at about 7:45am. The next morning, I still had not heard anything from them, so I called. After finally getting through to someone, he seemed bothered that I was calling him. And he told me "Somebody SHOULD have called you", like it was MY fault for not getting a call. He set up where to take my car and that was it. That was the last time I heard from them. The rental car company called and told me that my insurance was stopping the rental car on a certain day. A short while after, the body shop called to say the car would be done that day. No one ever called me or bothered to check with me the entire process. It's also important to point out that I've been with them for 11 years and have the Diamond level status. The highest you can get. The only thing I got from them was a survey asking how well they did. I answered everything with Extremely Dissatisfied and then in the notes said than no one ever talked with me so it was hard to give them advice on how to make things better.
I have not heard back from them about the survey as of yet, either. That was a week ago. Sadly, this isn't the first time this has happened. I was rear ended a couple years ago, and they didn't bother contacting me until they called me to say there wasn't enough evidence to prove that I wasn't at fault for being rear ended in rush hour traffic on an Interstate.
They said they couldn't prove the other driver hit me because they tried calling him but he wouldn't return the phone calls. Like, WTF? Luckily I ended up taking pictures of the guy's license after the accident so I was able to send that to his insurance company and they admitted fault. But my insurance company did NOTHING to help me.
Honestly, I'll probably dump them for another insurance company now. I'd been keeping them because I get two accident forgiveness' a year or something. But I don't feel like giving them money anymore. I know whoever I go to will be just as bad. I left Allstate 11 years ago because they were terrible, too. They cancelled my insurance for non-payment but then tried to give me a check back with the payment they said I missed. I said, you have the payment in your hand and your saying you never got it? They said, "We realize it was our mistake now, but we didn't at the time." When we asked them to reinstate me they literally said, "We have the option to do that, but at this time, we choose not to because that would admit that we were at fault." It was a local agent who didn't want to admit to his higher ups that he had messed up. It was insane.
So, anyway. Everyone loves to talk about how we need to go after Big Pharma. But honestly, I'd vote for any presidential candidate who'd go after these crappy insurance companies.
