help! I used to be able to access the sharkpool at work but can no longer do so. New firewalls I suppose. Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

gratuitous Bump for the late crowd....someone please help me find a back door proxy to access the shark pool while i'm at work....

From that page, you can type in the URL of any FBG site and it will display the page for you. It'll put up a little box in the top of the page so that you will know that the page is coming in through a proxy server rather than directly. Any link you click on the page will automatically be redirected through the proxy server. The box at the top of the page also has a field in it where you can directly enter any other FBG page you want to visit.

unfortunately that proxy doesn't work for me anymore. is there another one or does any one have any ideas on how to circumvent firewalls
That's the only one we've set up at FBGs but there are other HTML proxies out there on the internet. However, any monitoring program worth it's salt can easily sniff out a proxy server so the proxy is really only useful for situations where the company has a really old monitoring system, a very outdated block list, or has rigged up some sort of homebrew site blocking system. The suggestion about using a remote access product from work to log in through your home PC is a very good one, though. http://www.logmein.com and http://www.gotomypc.com are a couple of examples of sites that provide this functionality and are easy to use. I would definitely test it thoroughly during your trial period, though -- in most cases, if your workplace monitoring software is blocking proxies, it will be able to block remote access programs, too.

Assuming you have a home computer, you may want to consider a Remote Desktop Connection.
i doubt i will be able configure my work desktop to access my home computer, unless you have an easy to install program.
Most Windows computers already have Remote Desktop Connection already installed. Just go to Start - Programs - Accessories. On my work laptop it is right there, but sometimes you have to go one folder deeper into "Communications."

That is not necessarily true if the proxy is running SSL. Really, the only way to defeat that is if the proxy is known and becomes blacklisted.
