I've always slept naked... The last 3 months my older son and I have shared a bed while the wife sleeps in his room with a newborn, I've been in shorts and hate it!

Ew, yuck. Loose boxers are the way to go. We're ignoring the fecal elephant in the room. Those skid marks a post above mentioned? They can happen at night, too, and the thought of sleeping on (even lightly) marked sheets would keep me up all night. It's not about freedom in the front, it's about cleanliness in the caboose.
