That's a great clip. It makes feel a bit better but in this era and with some of the likes of Sosa and his go ahead and test me line, I'm still skeptical.Love that article on Pujols and Stan The Man.![]()

Pujols, 29, says he was tested six times last year as part of MLB's drug policy. But if that's not good enough, Pujols vows to take a test every day and, if he is caught using performance-enhancing drugs, he says, he will pay back the Cardinals every penny he has earned.
"Come test me every day if you want," says Pujols, who has the most home runs at the All-Star break since Barry Bonds hit 39 and Luis Gonzalez hit 35 in 2001. "Everything I ever made in this game I would give back to the Cardinals if I got caught."

In a very real... and legally-binding sense.I love the guy, and I hope he's not using. But it's just words.iSnitch said:That's a great clip. In a 2-0 game last night they gave him the intentional with runners at 1st and 3rd. Ludwick drove in 2. Hopefully he can keep that up in the second half. The only way the intentionals don't come more frequently is if Ludwick makes them pay.Statorama said:Is there some kind of league directive that Pujols has to be pitched to? Absolutely no one else in that lineup scares me at all, and I'd be more than willing to tip my cap to them if they beat me. But damn, there's no sane reason to actually throw that guy a pitch near the strike zone. Every single time he swings the bat, I repeat the mantra "why the hell are they pitching to him???".I just don't get it. How many times does he have to beat you all by himself before you stop pitching to the guy?
To be fair, it was 2-0 because of two solo HRs from Albert. One of them was even on a 3-0 fastball. Ooof.In a 2-0 game last night they gave him the intentional with runners at 1st and 3rd. That guy should be walked everytime he's up. If Ludwick and his .260 average beat you, then that's just a loss you're going to have to take.In a 2-0 game last night they gave him the intentional with runners at 1st and 3rd. Ludwick drove in 2. Good for him. I'll take my chances with a Ryan Ludwick over an Albert Pujols 7 days out of 7.For the record, following a a Pujols walk this season:Ryan Ludwick is 16 for 33.
Oh, I would, too. I am just saying, it is gonna be more difficult to pitch about Pujols if Ludwick keeps hitting the ball well.Good for him. The guys infront of Pujols need to hit, its harder to pitch around a guy when a couple of men are on base with 1 out than it is with nobody on and Ruth on deck.Oh, I would, too. Amazing, ain't it? Last night was great, too. The Cardinals blew a 5-0 lead in the 5th, allowing the Pirates to score 6 runs and take the lead, but sure enough, in the top of the 6th, Pujols crushes a 3-run HR to give them the lead back, which they did not relinquish. The guy is so good, it is almost too good to be true.Yet another big hit (in this case a Home Run) from Pujols tonight against the Pirates.WHY DO YOU PITCH TO THIS GUY???How many times does he have to single handedly win games before teams catch on to....oh I don't know....pitching around him???

That shows you just how much 'roids effect the game. A player not as good as Pujols, doubling him up statistically?!? Cocaine 'roids....it's a helluva drug.As good as Pujols is, his RC/G is about half that of Bonds at his roided out peak. Think about that: half.

its sad thats what baseball has become. id be more surprised if anyone was clean.Don't mind Wrigley. He can never resist the temptation to imply that Pujols is 'roiding. I mean, his team is a pathetic franchise that hasn't won a World Series championship in over 100 years, so for him and other Cubs fans, praying that the biggest star on their most hated rival, a highly successful franchise at that, is on PEDs is all they have. Sad what it has come to for them.![]()
Watch it there Rider, you were the one who said it's almost too good to be true.I merely pointed out that it may be.......are you suggesting you've never considered it a possibility that he's using?Don't mind Wrigley. You don't pay attention, do you? I have said numerous times over the years that I wouldn't be surprised by ANY MLB player testing positive for using PEDs, Albert Pujols included. However, given the stunning consistency that he has shown over the years, he would be a bit more surprising that guys like Ortiz, Sosa, etc., all of whom had sudden offensive spikes in their careers. Pujols' numbers are pretty consistent, year after year. There has been no spike or sudden surge in any of his numbers.Watch it there Rider, you were the one who said it's almost too good to be true.I merely pointed out that it may be.......are you suggesting you've never considered it a possibility that he's using?Don't mind Wrigley. massive jerk - checkamazing hitter - checkone of the first steroid users to get caught -It's a shame Bonds was a massive jerk and one of the first steroid users to get caught. What an amazing hitter he was.
Yeah, he'll get his day in court.massive jerk - checkamazing hitter - checkone of the first steroid users to get caught -It's a shame Bonds was a massive jerk and one of the first steroid users to get caught. What an amazing hitter he was.![]()
No, I don't pay attention.Guy is a machine, I am mostly just jealous.
A-Rod's power numbers have gone up a good amount since leaving Seattle, but he has always been a tremendous hitter, so the PEDs probably turned him from a great hitter to a really great hitter. Semantics? Maybe, but who knows? Odds are, he would have been an all-time great w/o the PEDs. Same with Bonds. As for Ramirez, he has been caught twice already, and who knows how many times he has not gotten caught, so I think it is probable that he has been juicing for most of his career.Did Manny and A-Rod have sudden surges in their numbers?
Very true. It's a shame Bonds was a massive jerk and one of the first steroid users to get caught. What an amazing hitter he was.
That's going on my ceiling.Love this pic, BTW. Kinda creepy. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6619/p...aseball_pagp110

I guess grand jury testimony where Bonds', under oath, admitted to taking the cream and the clear isn't enough evidence? That's sounding less and less likely.Yeah, he'll get his day in court.massive jerk - checkamazing hitter - checkone of the first steroid users to get caught -It's a shame Bonds was a massive jerk and one of the first steroid users to get caught. I don't understand this line of thinking. I believe a great deal of players were/are juicing. Sure, Bonds' numbers wouldn't have been quite as obscene if he were clean, but his numbers were so far and away compared to other roided up contemporaries I just don't understand how you can't say he was one of the best hitters of his generation. And the best hitter of ANY generation belongs in the discussion for greatest of all time...And comparing era to era is a difficult and virtually impossible task to achieve no matter what the circumstances. So much changes throughout the years. It's just best imo to say player x is amongst the best of his era and leave it at that. You can appreciate, or at least respect, someone's greatness if you have reason to dislike, or even despise them.Unfortunately, for me, I will not consider anyone who played in the steriod era the greatest of anything. Baseball records and comparisons from era to era have been forever tainted.
