Q for Chargers fans (1 Viewer)

Last night, when the game was wrapped up, the camera panned over to Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison sitting down next to each other. They looked tired but (naturally)happy in victory.

What did you think when you saw that?

Guessing-

Good for you two?

I knew they'd win Supes eventually(previous years), wish it was on our team?

What do you guys think?

When Harrison won his first Super Bowl with the Patriots, I was very happy for him. He was one of my favorite players on the Chargers and SD still hasn't found a replacement for him since he left.

I'm sure my feelings towards Seau would be similar except for the timing of when he joined the Patriots. Rodney became a Pat when they were a scrappy group that were easy to root for. By the time Seau signed there, they'd already won three titles, so it's like in baseball if one of my favorite players signed with the Red Sox or Yankees. I can't bring myself to root for the evil empire.

Then came the playoff game against the Pats last year. After the scene immediately after that game, I lost any respect I had for that organization. I recognize that this year's team is possibly the greatest one I've seen in my lifetime, and I deliberately try to stay out of most of the SP forums because they all turn in to "I hate the Patriots" forums. But this one just seemed to hit on something I felt while watching the game last night.

Rodney and Junior are dead to me now. I take no comfort in seeing them win anything. I hope the Chargers win today, and then go up to Gillette next week and shock the world, and then after the game the whole team does the "Lights Out" dance on the Pats logo while Norv gets Belichek to tap out to the figure-four leglock. Anything less than that happening this year would be a disappointment.

Yes, I know there's a snowball's chance in hell of it happening, but hey, a guy can dream.

Interesting how your "love" for 2 players turned so much, both extremes really. Thanks for the reply

I am happy for both of them, both are very hard working and dedicated players. Niether Rodney or JR left the team because they were holding out for big money, they were not given a chance to re-sign with the team. The management at that time did not want to sign them, so I have no hard feeling with the players for leaving. I would like to see JR get a ring, but not at the expense of the Chargers. Go Bolts.

This pretty much sums up my feelings. I have no real reason to dislike either of them. They were guys that I rooted for as Chargers, left only because they weren't welcome back on the team, and have given me no real reason to dislike them since then.

I wondered if Seau was taking HGH too. His age and current level of play definitely seems suspicious. :)
Call me cynical but I suspect about half of pro athletes are on something. If I remember correctly Seau was always looked upon as a workout warrior in SD so maybe that explains part of the reason he's still playing at a high level. Also, his level of play isn't as high as people think... he has a very well defined role in the NE defense and performs that role very well but he's nothing more than an complimentary player on that defense. Harrison, on the other hand, makes that defense look completely different when he's on the field.
