I seldom post on here because I'm too busy lurking in the shadows trying to glean as much knowledge from the Sharks here to prepare for my 12 man PPR league draft next month. My league starts 1 QB 1RB/2WRs 1 TE 1 DEF 1 K with 1 Flex RB or WR.
I typically draft a QBs late in my draft and try to load up on RB and WR unless value falls at the QB position. This never happens in my league because many of the guppies in my league feel like they must have a top tier QB so they go fast in the first two rounds. But what do I know? QB is awarded 6pts for TDs and 1pt for 20yds passing. So maybe it is worth securing a top tier QB early and not having to worry the rest of the year on who to start. However my strategy has always been to find a gem at QB. Last year I drafted Delhomme and Grossman late. I hit on Delhomme until he was injured and Grossman was a bust but I took my chances. Fortunately I rode Griese later and then Warner and managed to get into the playoffs.
I've been trying to get a handle on the following possible late QBs gems. I'd love to draft 2 of the 3, the problem is they all have the same (8) bye-week. Fantasy Football Calculator shows them being drafted at the following ADP:
Cutler- ADP 8.09
Schaub- ADP 10.02
Rodgers- ADP 11.05
My questions-
(1) Would it make any sense to draft 2 of the 3 late and draft a 3rd QB or pick one up off of waivers later to cover the bye week? We draft only 14 rounds so it may not be smart to draft 3 QBs on a short roster.
(2) Would you just draft a starter and then pick one of these three guys solely as a backup and press?
(3) If I draft a starter in front of them, say Bulger, McNabb, Hasselbeck, which of the 3 QBs above would you target the most?
(4) Any other consideration or strategy I'm overlooking here?
