QB Jalen Hurts, PHI (2 Viewers)

  • Defense - 4 Turnovers, Constant Pressure .... Dominant !!!!
  • Saquan 15 for 118 7.9 3 TDs - Unreal ... set the tone WOW !!!
  • Shipley 4 for 77 19.2 1 TD - What a finish ... HOLY **** !!!!
  • Hurts 10 for 16 1.6 3 TDs - LOL !!!!!! Well I guess you gotta throw him a bone ... you know , make him feel like he's contributing. We've all heard the expression "throw enough **** at the wall some of it will stick !!! That is Hurts run game to a T. How many times did Brady say "I dont know why he didnt throw it to that open receiver" I think I counted 6

Keep chewing that crow, you’ll get it down eventually! Tough L to take I’m sure. 🤣

well, I think he played a good game, but the eagles were better equipped to win this time.

Last time the chiefs rushed on the right side of the line and kept their gaps so that Hurts couldnt roll out to his right. by doing this it forced him to roll the other direction and throw across his body (which he is not as good at)

this time he was able to roll to his right. I suspect there are two possible reasons for this:

1) the line didnt allow it to happen
2) I think the presence of Sequon was enough to make that scheme unviable as a strategy.

it could be one or the other or some combination of the two.

The Chiefs were clearly more focused on stopping the run game but in doing so, it opened up some parts of the pass game. I think this made the difference as Hurts did not face the same pressure when he was back to pass as he did in his first superbowl appearance.

While I'd like to give hurts the Credit, the reality is that this was mostly a team effort and it all began with the line performing and keeping him clean.

of course with this being the case, Hurts had more time to figure things out back there, and hes a guy at QB you dont want to give a lot of time to if you are the opposing D.

twas a well played game on the side of the Iggles.

congrats Eagles fans.

Top 5 QB in the league? Hard to argue not only with results, but actual performance too. If you were to tell football fans, including even most Eagles fans I'd imagine, that Barkley was going to rush 25 times for only 57 yards in the Super Bowl, I think most would say that would secure the Chiefs a win. Spags put everything on stopping the run and dared Hurts to beat them. And he did, convincingly. Hurts isn't perfect, but he certainly shows up when called on. Even the last time they played and the Eagles lost, Hurts played a top tier game. I'd say one of his best IMO. After Mahomes, Burrow, and Allen I think Hurts has to be thrown in the discussion at the very least.

So, for sure, its dead and buried, the question "What if a team forces Jalen Hurts to win"

Right? Right???

I suspect goal posts to be further moved in veiled attempts to give shady credit but also give him backhanded compliments etc. I'm sure he's fine with it.

Super Bowl MVP. And this team is really just getting started.

Go Birds!

Good for Hurts on winning the SB and SB MVP. He’s only 26 and Philly has a fantastic roster. Think his skillset compliments the roster well.
Just seems to me the defense should have at least received co-MVP, never needed to blitz, 2 int (one pick 6) 6 sacks and pressure all game long.

It's tough to name a defensive MVP unless someone clearly won the game with their play like Von Miller did for the Broncos. I certainly wouldn't have argued if it had gone to Sweat or DeJean, though.

I'm so glad the Steelers had the foresight to plan for Ben's departure by passing on Hurts to draft Claypool.
The trajectory of his career could have been very different if he ended up on the Steelers instead of the Eagles. Same thing could be said about all the great QBs. System, coaching and situation is all important in shaping these guys into who they eventually become. Lots of very talented QBs have failed.

Every other team passed on Hurts as well.

It's about not planning for the future which has now led to a scramble to find some competent QB.

I was hoping they would draft him in 2020 after Ben's 2019 season, and always thought it to be a glaring error. He wouldn't have turned out like he has due to playing under Tomlin's prehistoric offensive philosophy, but he was the BPA at a time when their 37 year old QB was coming off a major injury.

Jalen Hurts had as many TD (8) in the fourth quarter as incompletions thrown (8) since the #Eagles bye week (Week 5).

That includes playoffs (14 games).

Lets compare him again to daniel jones. Lmao
Insert Jones ... Eagles easily win the SB
No difference ... Once again the Eagles win in spite of Hurts not because of Hurts
He tried to blow it in the 1st Q with taht horrendous INT but the Eagles D was not having it
Admitting you are wrong is a sign of strength and maturity. Meanwhile, sharing the same incorrect observations over and over makes others assume that you lack intelligence or have some ulterior motive. It's possible you don't care how people view you on the internet, but I thought you should know.

Qammy I'm glad you're not a talent evaluator. You're not even impartial just delusional. That TD pass to Devonta Smith in the Super Bowl was a beauty.
So was that pick that fell 10 yds south of the WR ...
You see most college QBs can make that throw when they have 5-7 seconds to throw to one of the best contested catch WRs on the planet

Horrendous pick? WTF with this "analysis". It was third and ten, at the edge of FG range with a shaky kicker, under pressure where a sack likely means no FG attempt at all....and the pick occurred at the THREE yard line.

I said it at the time and will say it again....I'll take that kind of pick any day.

His solid SB play has me thinking I might could sell high on AJB in a dynasty league where I could afford to move off of him. He wasn’t generating much interest last time I put him on the block, but the postseason run may have elevated his value in the eyes of some in the league. Most of the feedback I received was “love AJB, don’t love his QB”.

It’s TE-P and I’m constantly running out scraps at the position. Wonder if I could get a decent young-ish TE for him. 🤔

Qammy sounding suspiciously like a DJax burner.
I actually think this might be true.

He has 19 posts spread over the past month.

All 19 of them are in this thread, and not a single one anywhere else.
I've had him blocked for a while. It's great, you should try it.
Qammy is like 1 of 2 people I have blocked on this board in over 15 years.
I like Qammy. He makes me feel better about my irrational obsession with D'Andre Swift and Sean Tucker.

Daemon and ShamrockPride you guys are too smart for me. ;) Be careful what I don't wish for. I could see the creative geniuses that they are start replying to each other's posts. Just to try to throw us off the scent.

Ever wonder why they're never in the same room at the same time!? It's 100% him.
Not gonna lie, I’ve thought this before.
Not a chance in hell. Their posting styles are way too different. Djax is an Eagles fan. He’s just not a Hurts fan.

Jalen Hurts is horrendous ... one of the top 5 worst QBs in the NFL period!

Take away his running ... and he is hands down the worst
:goodposting:
Still Stands ... Insert any QB in the NFL in that lineup and expect the same or better results
The Defense and the Oline were hands down the MVPs of this game
while I would agree the D and the O line were the MVP's in this game they will never give the MVP to a defender unless he really tears it up. (ie. multiple pick 6) and on offense its never going to an O lineman.

the only real choice was Hurts, Sequon or one of the WR for MVP. Sequon was ok and so were the WR. Hurts played well. had one or two real bad throws like he always does but other than that played a solid game. he was the MVP in a game where I'm not sure there should have been an MVP. it was a team win. Everyone did their part and nobody really stood above the rest.... not in any significant way anyways.

I agree with the MVP selection, while noting that in games like this it usually goes to the QB. the reality is it was everyone. The line probably won the game for them but nobody is gonna give that award to an O lineman (sorry.... sad but true)

Honestly, that pick was arguably a positive play. Pinned KC deep.

What was the other real bad throw?

Also, since he always has one or two real bad throws, please let us know which ones they were in the NFC championship game.

Steve Spagnuolo has been a defensive coordinator for 25 playoff games in his storied career.

Based on EPA per pass play AND dropback success rate, Jalen Hurts' performance in the Super Bowl was the best ever for a QB in a playoff game against Spags.
