QB Jalen Hurts, PHI (1 Viewer)

326 yards, 3 deep TD passes, perfect 158.3 passer rating, another win. All against a top five defense and arguably #1 pass defense in the league. RB playing the QB position my hairy-***.
Hopefully the Eagles learn from this and lean into it. They should be a pass 1st team. It shouldn't matter how they won the Super Bowl last season. That's not the team they have now, this team should be throwing 35 times a game and taking routine deep shots.

I also liked the PA under center stuff. Helps the OL and gives the defense more to think about.

My favorite thing about this thread is when Jalen Hurts has great games, there literally is no action at all.

Season Ranks:

YPA: 10th
Comp %: 7th
Passing Tds: T-3
Rating: 4th

Also First player in NFL history to have a 15:1 TD:INT ratio thru the first 8 games of a season.

Add in 5 rushing TDs, pacing for 40+ total touchdowns

Is there a realistic chance that this is accurate? Hurts just flat-out defying what the coaches tell him to do? I don't see a quarterback getting away with that.

I hear ya...was really blown away to read this...there seems to be some tension with their O but if this were true that takes things to a totally different level...I do find it hard to believe he is defying the coaching-stuff...if it were that bad I would think we would have heard rumblings of it before now.

Flat out defiance is a serious accusation, and maybe incorrectly described/reported. Hesitant to "let it fly" is fairly common though and usually results in crazy low INT ratio which becomes a misleading stat on good football teams (w/ mediocre QBs). I think about someone like Alex Smith... always seemed to have a very good QB rating, which IIRC was resulting from low INTs... which was directly tied to his hesitancy to throw it downfield or toss 50/50 balls. But because Alex Smith had a good QB rating and his teams won nobody really focused on it. The 2025 Eagles kind of fit that mold. 2024 they just ran the ball like crazy which (I'm sure) helped to open up the passing game. Right now the Eagles offense is looking like the plane crash of 2023... except the defense is so dominant they are still winning.
