“I think No. 1 is winning,” he said. “He comes in with a winning pedigree. The guy has won I think maybe more games than any other college quarterback. Two, I think his delivery, his demeanor, his character, the Heisman Trophy speech. Every time we’ve seen him talk, he’s incredibly soft-spoken, he’s humble and people like that. People like that especially for professional athletes.
“And again, we’re only talking about likeability and appeal. We’re not talking about awareness, which is still pretty low. But obviously that will grow as he becomes an NFL quarterback. Not playing in a huge market, so he’s not as polarizing as somebody who might be in a bigger media market.”
for a minute there I thought you linked to Tim Tebow.NFL's #1 most appealing player

Hawaiians supposedly have a more peaceful less stressful way of looking at the world and a different mindset than us. I've noticed many writers and athletes have mentioned Mariota's demeanor and how it corresponds to Hawaiian ways. I'm not sure if it's THAT interesting, but...it's something different. I am a little curious. What I didn't expect was it to captivate so many though. Every week, geesh probably every day there's someone on twitter saying something about the guy and how he handles himself.for a minute there I thought you linked to Tim Tebow.![]()
True, but Tebow was a very polarizing player from a marketing perspective.
The funny thing is the Mariota doesn't care about all this stuff.
http://www.tennessea...h-cox/28637565/QB Marcus Mariota. The first-round pick is drawing all the attention, of course. He has looked better than I thought he would out of the gate, with impressive arm strength and confidence running the offense. He's bound to have some disastrous days as he finds his way, but he's not yet come close to embarrassing himself.

Some buzz from Titans’ locker room: One vet player tells me Mariota is real deal. Stud player with great arm — but also a perfect attitude.
Anyone or everyone, once he loses a couple close ones by not coming through Joe Montana style in the 4th. Fair? Not a bit. But the, "He just lacks that fire," meme is never any further away than its flip side.Mariota's "angle" is bulletproof. Who is going to say they don't want to be more relaxed or more peaceful or they dislike a cool-headed QB?

Why Marcus Mariota could start: He’d have to flop in a big way in camp and the preseason to not start. Before the draft, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said if the Titans drafted a quarterback second overall, he’d be expected to start. Mariota wasn’t a shaky, nervous rookie in OTAs and minicamp. There was no real pass rush and no contact, and in that context the Heisman Trophy winner looked comfortable and in command. Through OTA practices and minicamp, Mariota showed more command than I believed was reasonable to expect. He’s got a good arm, drew raves regarding his accuracy and handled himself like a dream for the team that drafted him second overall. He didn’t face a real rush or get hit, but all the early indications have been positive. Zach Mettenberger was fine through the practices, but there looked to be a clear gap between the two quarterbacks. The Titans have a player to rally around, and as a side benefit, the marketing department is working with something it has not had in some time, too.
FOX Sports' Alex Marvez believes unsigned No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota is likely haggling with the Titans over offset language.
With the terms of all rookie contracts locked into a slotted, assigned value under the most-recent CBA, offset language is essentially the lone negotiable point that remains. Teams insist on offset language with first-rounders and their guaranteed contracts so they can't "double dip" in the event of their release. As in, collect their originally-scheduled salary as well as extra money from their new club. We fully expect Mariota to sign before camp.

1. Marcus Mariota has exceeded expectations for the Tennessee Titans.
"He's probably further along at this point than we thought he would be, maybe," Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Credit Mariota for earning the praise. Since January, Mariota has worked on his footwork, spending many hours taking snaps from center and executing throws from three-, five- and seven-step drops. Spread quarterbacks don't do that. He has gotten more comfortable running a huddle -- another thing he didn't do in college. His Tennessee teammates have praised his accuracy, a sign that his improved footwork is paying off. Whisenhunt also likes the way Mariota is processing the plays. Expect him to start Week 1.
That's all this is about really. The worry is over "double dipping" but how often is a player cut on their rookie contract and then goes on to sign a big deal? One of those agents said Mariota's representatives could be trying to figure out something to fight about, and that winning on offsets is seen by some as a badge of honor when in this instance it “doesn’t mean anything.”
If this was Winston in this position you would never shut up about it.That's all this is about really. Winston's a pretty good bet to do something stupid and/or criminal enough that his team could well want to be rid of him in a year or two. When does camp start? How serious a hold out risk is Mariota at this point?
Never good for a rookie QB to miss any time at camp.

• It was another solid day for quarterback Marcus Mariota, who has played mistake-free football through the first two days of camp. I’ve been impressed with Mariota’s poise, decision-making, and accuracy. Mariota’s best throw of the day was a strike to receiver Kendall Wright across the middle, which would’ve gone for a score. He also made a number of nice throws to receiver Hakeem Nicks and tight end Anthony Fasano. The Titans added an interesting twist on Saturday with some designed runs that got fans excited. After practice, Mariota spent over an hour signing autographs for fans.
