QB Max Brosmer, MIN (3 Viewers)

This will be very interesting. If he moves this offense on Sunday... there will be a lot of whispering going on in MIN behind "Nine's" back.

Before I spend the next 48 hours posting some insane Max Brosmer propaganda let me get one serious statement out of the way: Brosmer looked great this summer and making the team as a UDFA rookie is impressive as hell. I have no idea what to expect Sunday but it’s unlikely he goes out there in his first NFL start and looks like we found Brock Purdy regardless of how impressive he was in camp/pre-season.

That being said he’s throwing for 400 yards and 5 TDs.

@vikingzfanpage
#Vikings QB Max Brosmer says he prides himself on being the “most prepared player on the field” at all times, leveraging his mind to compensate for not being the most athletic or strongest:

“I was never the most athletic guy, never the strongest guy, but I felt like I can do it better with my mind on the field. That’s playing NFL quarterback in my opinion… There’s gonna be ups and downs, but it’s about mental resilience in the game.”

Max Brosmer (Minnesota) is probably my favorite Day 3 QB. Absolute machine on intermediate throws and is by far the best anticipatory passer that I’ve watched. I’d draft him just to specialize as my 3rd & medium QB.

I highly considered playing Max over Faileb Williams today. I am not being hyperbolic either. I know Max has a tough matchup but he has the unknown factor and looked better in preseason than JJM. I actually think Max will be an upgrade for the wide receivers and even Hockenson. FWIW, JT O had some great things to say about him: https://www.austindailyherald.com/s...brosmer-could-thrive-for-the-vikings-b81e1bb7

People are comparing him to Purdy. I am not so sure about that, but Max could be a good stash for superflex and especially dynasty. In dynasty, if he balls out, he could end up being the man next year and beyond (if he keeps it up).

Every Max Brosmer throw from Vikings' preseason finale: 15 of 23, 161 yards, 1 TD (and one 40-yard drop).

Impressive stuff from the undrafted rookie.

@vikingzfanpage
#Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell says Max Brosmer has a “twitchy quick release” with “the ability to be pretty accurate” at both the underneath and intermediate parts of the football field:

“I think there’s going to be opportunities, for whoever is playing QB in this game, to just hunt completions.”

Also he did some impressive work against the Titans first team defense in the preseason. Quick release and throws it fast. Would be curious how many MPH he throws the football.

Grabbed him in a dynasty SF league about 2 weeks ago and thus it has come to pass that he gets his opportunity. Tbh some of the chat in here is making me a little excited, given how bad McCarthy has been.

This sounds promising (from the link)

Weaknesses
Has touch but lacks consistent accuracy on deep throws.
Low release point causes throws to sail or get batted at the line.
Below-average placement forces receivers to break stride.
Rushes his process once the pocket alarm goes off.
Lacks arm talent and mobility to make plays off-schedule.
Play takes a noticeable downturn when he can’t work in rhythm.

I'll just say as someone who watches a lot of Big Ten football, I never thought Brosmer had more than 3rd string/practice squad written on him. Weak arm, little mobility, and poor mechanics, where you'd see him often throwing jump passes.

I think its very possible (likely) he's not better than McCarthy or Wentz were. Also, the Vikings OL is pretty banged up, and they are playing at Seattle.

Now go back and read everthing this same front office was saying about JJM.

Effusive praise seems to come easy. When Brosmer is sacked a dozen times with 4 turnovers, this topic’s tone will change pretty quickly.

I’m not buying what the Vikings are selling.

If Burrow hadn't come back this week, I probably would be starting him in my 2 QB league over Tyrod Taylor (traded away Rodgers). I think he surprises and there will be controversy about who starts for the Vikes for the rest of the year...

Starting Seattle DEF where I own them with confidence tomorrow
I face the SEA D in a little over a 1/3rd of my playoff games this week and I'm absolutely terrified.
All year long great D matchups have failed (or maybe it is only the one’s I select). I think it will be no worse than McCarthy starting and a marginal chance Brosmer surprises and is somewhat efficient. Ward performed above expectations last week and I think there is a chance MIN surprises this week. Of course my thoughts are not worth much lol…

I've actually considered a lot of what you just wrote. Especially the part about he may not be worse then JJM and could surprise. I know I read a lot from back in training camp from some beat writes that the Vikings feel like they may have found their Brock Purdy.

Still scared though.

I would share the same fear in this circumstance, however JJM has been SO bad I think there is a chance this change provides a spark. Again, SEA D allowed Ward to look better than he has all year. I wish you luck!

Tough spot on the road at Seattle. He may be better than JJM, but I hope for his sake he gets another chance to show it, because I believe his debut will be a rough one.

Don't envy him.

SEA with a loss to LAR a couple weeks ago and a mediocre showing @TN last week. Now home for this game.

This could be a beating. SEA D owners rejoice.

If you'll permit me a personal anecdote, I'm playing Pip the Eagles fan in the FFA Music Summerpalooza. I churn madly in two leagues I'm in and that's one of them. I churned through my own stupid fourth-round pick (BassNBrew would lecture me) but he's not winning anybody a league. Get you to the playoffs maybe, but brevity is the key here. Long story shorter: Dude has Mahomes, Lamb, and Aubrey in the clubhouse while I'm sitting with Hurts and Montgomery. Neither computer nor I think a victory is feasible and I'm already scoreboard watching and contemplating the two sleepers I need for my tenth transaction of the week.

So I'm like, okay, I have the number two defense on the week and maybe a defensive touchdown will help. I look over at this team. Seattle.

Boys, fire up your Seattle D/ST, but in addition to the obvious anecdotal problems, I have him in my QB-needy dynasty squad, so I'm pulling for this kid something fierce.

Did you offer me Hurts because Mahomes was playing the Cowboys the week I played you?

Did you offer me Hurts because Mahomes was playing the Cowboys the week I played you?

No. LOL. I get what you're saying, but no way could you justify sitting Mahomes this week. That wasn't the impetus: I actually saw your roster and thought we were rather well-situated for a trade, but we must have just had different valuations or needs or you wanted to remain as-is. I thought you were for sure in the playoffs, and I had two QBs and thought the reduction in your flex would be worth it if I gave someone else. I would have (and realized it too late) sent Fannin or Gadsden in addition to Monty and Hurts or Dart (I wrote you with the option because either way was cool with me), but maybe you were set at TE? There was likely a reason why I didn't.

My reasoning why you might have wanted that deal (and if you have FAAB, I'd urge you to bid on Dart, dude) was because I play in a dynasty league with 6 pt. pass TDs on MFL with Patrick as my main QB in a 1QB league. I have no other solid QB to speak of, and MFL shows the opposing teams' ordinal rank against the QB position (where the numeral 1 represents the toughest defense, or more accurately, the defense giving up the fewest fantasy points to the QB position per game, and a 32 represents a defense giving up the most points). Anyway, I've been sort of nervous since before the first Denver/KC game about Pat and KC because the schedule and ranks show them playing Houston, the LA Chargers, and Denver in Weeks 14, 15, and 17, which means you're facing, in order, teams that are numbered 3, 2, 20 (Tennessee), and then number 1 for the coup de grace. You're facing the three stingiest teams in the next four weeks for giving up QB points if you advance to the finals.

I did consult trade tables and tried to give as good as I could, but it was not to be. I'm sure you considered it, and you didn't let it die on the vine, so that's cool. But anyway, yeah, I wish you hadn't started Mahomes this week, but I also got the benefits of his 37.44, and my nephew had CeeDee going in his league so I was able to smile while the Summerpalooza team took a big old whomping.

So that's about it. Peace, brother. Best of luck today and in the future.

No problem. I don’t value SOS as much as most people. And the Chiefs are desperate and will need Mahomes to be 100% unleashed.

@TPPSkol
The Vikings have had their eye on Max Brosmer since the Gophers’ 2024 Pro Day, where KOC and Kwesi came away “impressed” by the recent transfer, per @AdamSchefter.

Kwesi even lobbied to get Brosmer into the scouting combine — though he was overheard saying he “kind of wish(ed)” he hadn’t, because “then he’d really be our secret.”

Now, he’s with the Vikings and making his first start today in Seattle.
