QB Musical chairs, music about to stop (1 Viewer)

Little bored on a Friday afternoon. Let's guesstimate where these guys end up. There seems to be maybe 3 openings for these guys if we assume Cam Ward goes 1.1 to the Titans.

open seats
Browns
Giants
Steelers

candidates
Rodgers
Wilson
Cousins
Sanders

I'll guess Rodgers to Steelers, Wilson to the Giants and at least 1 of Cousins/Sanders to Browns, maybe both.

I think there is a good chance the Browns just start Pickett. Maybe if Cousins gets cut he goes there, but I don't really see them signing Rodgers or Wilson or drafting Sanders.

I think the Vikings should be included to the list. I think most FF types like us assume they're happy to roll with JJ McCarthy and Brett Rypien (or should I say Rypien and McCarthy? @Deamon ;))

But their continued connection with Rodgers suggests they may not be all-in on Rypien & JJ.

The JJM Stans do NOT want to hear this and hey, they may be right in that the Vikings ties could all be originating from Rodgers and his agent as that is where he’d prefer to play next year. But man, if Rodgers does go to Minnesota and JJM isn’t the 2025 day 1 starter there are going to be a lot of disappointed fantasy owners.

I believe Daniel Jones says he was offered similar money to stay with the Vikings. That suggests to me they want to have a strong second QB/backup/guy they can roll with if things don't go well with JJ. It does not suggest to me they want to sign anyone else to hand the job to.

My best guess is that's why the Vikings have never offered anything to Rodgers. They don't want to hand him the job, they likely think or know that would be his expectation, and possibly the financial compensation commensurate with that.

Agreed. Rodgers will only sign under the guarantee he is the starter

His connection with Minnesota could be entirely fabricated by his agent but, I strongly believe the Vikings want a strong veteran on the roster l, probably as a clear backup (so Flacco seems like the eventual choice to me) and, until Rodgers signs somewhere Minnesota belongs on the OPs list.
