QB Passer ratings (1 Viewer)

The top 4 Numbers 1, 2 and 4 are shocking.
 The really shocking one is David Carr, but a lot of his production came against the Colts' prevent defense.

IMO Pennington's ranking is the most impressive since he's been in close games (no garbage time) without the benefit of a running game. (I know the Patriots were up 24-0 at one point, but it was 24-14 going into the fourth quarter, which I wouldn't consider a genuine garbage time situation.)

Does anyone actually expect any of those 4 to stay in the top 5 by seasons end?
Pennington has a career passer rating of 92.9, which would have put him at #6 last year. I could easily see him finishing in the top five. And Rivers seems to be on the Ben Roethlisberger plan of throwing high percentage passes set up by a strong running game, and avoiding difficult come-from-behind situations thanks to a strong defense. Roethlisberger was #3 in passer rating last year. (Brees was #10, and I've been saying all along that Rivers would have a higher passer rating in 2006 than Brees did in 2005.)

Pennington played one team with a horrible secondary and one team with a weak one. Pennington will always have a good passing rating because everything he does poorly is not reflected in the ratings and everything he does well is. he can't run and can't throw the ball deep, but he throws very high % short passes and doesn't throw picks because of throwing high % passes (and is accurate in that range).
