Question about a league (1 Viewer)

This seems pretty damn cut and dry to me but here is how the playoffs are said to be run as of right now in our rules

Playing multiple teams per week (4 teams per week)

15 week regular season

2 week playoffs

2 Divisions

4 Play-off Berths

I am 2nd place in one division but points wise the other division has more than two teams ahead of me. The playoff brackets come out and he sent three teams from one division and one team from my division.

I obviously think that having 2 division means two go from each no matter what the points, oh yea and the third team in other division happens to be his brother.

Now don't get me wrong this commish has been stand up and no issues, but I feel like this is painfully obvious here, am I wrong?

There is no other direction about seeding in the rules? Did you recently join this league, if so be prepared to hear "this is how we've always done it".

If they have a better record than you, or if the playoff tiebreaker is total points, you're out.

NFL wildcards aren't restricted to 1 per division, and they shouldn't be in your league unless it specifically says so in the rules.

Honestly, it is not clear to me at all. It basically says "4 playoff births", without any determination of ANY of the teams. It could be the 4 teams with the top total points regardless of record, 4 teams with the best records regardless of points, or a combo of both. I am guessing this is your first year in it, while your assumption is likely what I would have thought, without ANY kind of guidelines, it could be a total crapshoot.

I feel like it's painfully obvious that it's not "top two teams from each division." What league does that? The NFL doesn't, for example, nor does any fantasy league I've ever been involved in (and I've been playing a long time). I would always assume, unless it was explicitly stated otherwise, that the two division winners get in and then the other two "wild card" spots are awarded to the two best remaining teams, regardless of division.

If I join a league with multiple divisions, I only assume that the top team from each division goes, and the rest are determined based on record or total points (depending on the specific setup). Taking the top two teams from each division is idiotic, because it takes an already flawed system (divisions) and makes it even more flawed.

Your league needs more clearly defined rules, but regardless, I can't imagine a situation where the top two teams from both divisions automatically go.
