Question on a 16 team league? (1 Viewer)

We are moving to a 16 team format this year for the first time, does anybody that plays in a 16 team league have a roster limit on their QBs?

For example, we are discussing having a limit of two starting qbs per team, and then allowing them to carry each back up with the starters.

Any feedback would be great.

What type of league? Auction? Keeper? Redraft?I'm currently in a 32 team league that uses the auction format. There are some teams that don't have a starting QB, but that's because they chose to spend all their cash on other positions.I say don't put a limit on it. Make the teams choose wisely! You can always trade for a QB...it may cost you, but that's what you get I say.(Grossman/Griese and Derek Anderson owner  )

My 16-teamer has a few owners who are loud advocates of a 2-QB limit. However, the majority is opposed on the grounds that this can be remedied on auction day with some reasonable foresight. In addition, there are about 50 QBs who make at least one start during the season. We figure you should be able to find somebody in a pinch. If not, them's the breaks.

Thanks guys.

This is how my 16 teamers are. There is always one or two guys that draft 3-4 QBs thinking they will hijack the other owners. Usually it does not pan out. The RBs seem to be more rare than QBs for me.

I'm in a 16-teamer auction with no QB limits. Everyone has a starter, a couple people don't have QB2s and I guess they're just playing a risk. But most backup QBs aren't on any squads, so they can pay for the backup if their QB goes down.

I am in 5 16 team leagues with 35-40 man rosters and 12-13 player Rookie Taxi Squads and none of those leagues have position limits...

in my one 32 team league we use the TEAM QB and there is a limit of 1 TEAM QB/team

in one of those leagues last yr I gambled early(back in May) that Nall would be starting in Buff...i ended up not having a starting QB other then Seneca Wallace while Hass was injured....this yr I have:

Brees(acquired in RFA)

Simms(picked up off waivers at end of last yr)

Garcia(traded for this yr after RFA)

On my DTS(developmental taxi squad)

Jason Campbell(traded for mid last yr)

Croyle(traded TJax early last yr for croyle)

Clemens(drafted last yr in rookie draft)

If I am lucky at some point this yr I could realistically have 5 starting QBs in a 16 team league...luckily 3 are on my DTS and my plan is to leave them there unless I can get very good value for them(with the exception of campbell who i want to keep to activate next yr)

Essentially, you guys are talking about employing Team Qbs where instead of individual QBs, teams just draft the Colts or Jags QBs. I have seen it in 20 team or 32 team leagues not 16 teams where part of your strategy is how to handle the QB position i.e. do you go with one with little history of injury and figure the bye week it gets close? do you try to hoard? do you acquire a bunch of guys behind questionable starters? If everyone having a chance at always having a QB is important for your league then I go team QB with a limit of two. This way roster spots are not tied up with the Jim Sorgis or trying to figure out Dan O. or Drew Stanton is the starter if Kitna goes down? I say this as an alternative for your situation, not as my preference

I like the potential for teams to get pinched if they wait too long to draft a position. It adds more interesting dynamics to the draft strategy and subsequently to trading after the draft. For that reason alone I would not place any limit on how many a owner can draft at any position.

Depending on where I am drafting from and the flow of the draft I might still live dangerously and try to be the last guy who blinks on a QB.

In recent years I have been playing with too many owners who like to wait.. and wait.. and wait some more to draft thier QB. But I get to a point where a strong QB just offers too much value for me to pass up.

My 16 team redraft has no position limits. In the past, I've tried to grab the 3rd QB to dry up the supply (or if my 2 were weak so I could play QBBC).

Be men; have no position limits!!!

Last year, I was the last to grab a QB in a 16 teamer, some even had QB2, but I still ended up with Rivers and it worked out just fine. I have found that 16 team leagues make you wait on value for every pick. Cannot really get away with making too many mistakes.

My 16 team keeper league limits QB to a max of 2 through the draft. After the draft the roster limit immediately increases to three and remains at 3 until the time that keepers are announced for the following year.

Theres no need for it IMO. Ive played in a 16 team league for 5 years. The chump with 3-4 starting QB's, if there is one, will be looking to dump one early when he realizes his team sucks, and will likely cut one for a WW pickup by the time anyone who needs bye week filler needs a replacement. Same goes for defenses and kickers.

No limits in my 16 teamer. I have Palmer, Leinart, Curt Warner and Andrew Walter (team in sig). Some teams have 2 Qbs and some have 5.

And if you are going to do QBs, why not have a roster limit on running backs then?

They are more important, and there are less starters available.
