Question on Lynch (1 Viewer)

Lynch owner in our league has Direct TV and says he found out literally seconds before kickoff that Lynch was hurt and out.

Made a quick substitute at 1:05 to another back. This is as they were lining up to kick.

We are on MFFL. Figure the sight will not let you switch lineup once kick off, but: he is commissioner.

Is the actual exact kickoff time stamped by NFL somewhere so there is no question? We have the exact stamp of the roster move.

The commish is not absolutely positive if he got it in or not as it was that close. Not cheating but wants what he has coming. No problem with league guys.

cutoff is supposed to be 1pm - not 1:03 or whenever the game actually starts . . . commish is trippin' with that move . . .

Could have any other owner made such a move? I suspect the answer is no. I am not familiar with the MFFL league website (or your exact rules), but in our league, I am fairly certain the deadline for the 1:00 pm games is the scheduled kickoff time, rather than the actual kickoff; the fact that a Commissioner has extended access to make adjustments should not permit him to make a move that would not have been available to every other league member.

1:05 is the scheduled kickoff. 1:00 is 5 minutes prior which many leagues use as default. Sounds like this league allows up to 1:05 though.

On MFL the commish can switch line-up after kick-off. Logged-in as (name of his team) he can not.

Check time stamp of line-up submission. If it's after the :00 mark it should not be a legal switch.

point is that the guy is the COMMISH - it LOOKS fishy enough for him to know that he should not have done it . . .

If every owner did not have the capability to make the switch at the time that he did than it should not be allowed, simple as that.

I am a commish in a league and was in the same situation. I was not able to make the change enough through yahoo where we run our league and had to take a zero. I would simply stick by that rule. If you can't make the change through your scoring site because it is too late then it is simply too late.

You don't even know the rules of this league. The OP said the subsitution was made before kickoff. Seems fine to me.

Our league rules do state:Players or lineups are locked at the kick off of their games.
Sounds like he is ok then.
This. Rules state "kickoff". Kickoff was 1:05. Change was made at 1:03. MFL does the locking based on the league rules. The only way there would even be a question would be if the commish, acting *as* commish made a change to an owner's roster (in this case his own). If he made the lineup change from the "Submit lineup" page as team owner (ie, not as Commish) then he did nothing that any other owner could not have also done.

You may want to consider rewording your rules. My view is the easiest way to avoid any conflicts is to use the league hosting sites rule to administer the lineup changes. Then there is no question that everyone has equal opportunity. As a commish there is no way I would have done this to open a potential can of worms.
