Questions about certain IDP players (1 Viewer)

I figured I'd start a thread where we can list various IDP players that not many people know about so if anyone is in the know they can chime in.

Some IDP's I would like to know about are:

Jacob Ford - DE, TEN Titans - I picked him up with pick 4.27 in a 32 team league dynasty. I like the possibility of him getting decent rotation time in TEN since they aren't happy with their DE play with the exception of VanDen Bosch. Anyone know anything about him?

Courtney Brown - CB, DAL Cowboys - Seems to have great physical attributes (6'+, 200+ lbs). Favorable scouting reports. Compared to Chris McAllister of the Ravens.

**eta - I found this article on Ford if anyone else is interested:

Seems they brought him in to be a pass rusher. He had the 2nd fastest time (4.6) of all the DE's in the draft after Gaines Adams. He may have some potential to contribute this year.

I don't know much. Quick and undersized. Rotational edge rusher at best with a small chance to bulk up enough to add something in run defense. Odom may be healthy this year. He and LaBoy may yet work themselves into a nice rotation. Ford could have Mathis like talent I guess, but he's a longshot.

What about Jarvis Green, DE NE?
Underrated swing end. Much better IDP value in a 4-3 scheme. Extended through 2009, though, so there's not much value given that there's no rhyme or reason to the games when Belichick plays a lot of 4-3.
Thanks. Probably don't have room my roster unless it looks like he'll be used a lot more in pre-season.

I would like to know why the Igglez paid so much scratch to Juqua Thomas and then drafted another DE ...

I have Thomas in a 32 teamer. I suspect he may be startable as part of that 4 man DE rotation ...

But I would love more info ...

And not from you Zooty ...

imo it was a complete head scratcher...i fully expected to see thomas sign elsewhere

Another guy I'm looking for tidbits on is Courtney Brown, CB for the Cowboys.

Everything I've read sounds promising and he's compared to Chris McAllister which seems pretty good to me.

I just picked him up. Anyone have any scoop on him?

Sorry Beau but I have to weigh in :nerd: Thomas is 29 and this will be his 7th season. He played well last year as the #3 end (after Kearse was hurt). Johnson seems to prefer 3-4 man rotations along the DL. Thomas strikes me as a solid back-up and good against the run which Cole and Kearse are not so much. There has been some concern about Kearse's health and now weight. I see him as a solid 4 or 3 (if there is another injury). Odd move for Philly to resign an older back-up. Coupled with the drafting of Abmiri I suspect there is concern about Kearse as well as Howard maybe more for 2008 than 2007.And he could be a decent fill-in for a 32 team league especially if the is another injury along the Eagles DL but he's not the type of guy I would trade Delanie Walker for as an example. :nerd:

Looking for info on:

Eric Green - CB, Arizona

Travis Fisher - CB, Detroit

Broderick Bunkley - DT, Philadelphia

I just traded Thomas Clayton, 2008 4th rounder, and 2009 4th rounder for these guys since they will be starters in my lineup. (32 team dynasty league with deep rosters)

Travis Fisher will likely begin the season as the Lions nickel back behind Stanley Wilson and Fernando Bryant. He could have some value in a 32 team league at some point,...it depends when Bryant gets hurt like he always does. Bryant has only played 22 games the last 3 seasons. If Fisher starts a few games, he will have some value, as do most cover 2 CB's.

Green will almost certainly be pushed back into the nickel role with the signing of Roderick Hood. He regressed last year and was benched for David Macklin at one point. Some potential, but needs something to happen to get significant snaps.I agree with lions327 on Fisher, other than to say that Fisher is at least as likely to be injured as Bryant.Bunkley could make some strides this year if his offseason was as productive as the Eagles coaches are saying it was. I'm reminded of the same things being said about Matt McCoy this time last season though. He should move into the starting lineup but will be limited by the hockey line rotation the Eagles play along the front four.I don't know much about Courtney Brown other than that he's got some strength and athletic ability, but needs a lot of work on technique according to most scouting reports.

Awesome! Thanks Jene and lions327. I guess the bright side of Green and Fisher is that they are still young and may have the potential to turn things around. But they came very cheap in my 32 team league so I figured I'd bite.
