I'm still running one. If you just want an awesome detector with range, it's the play. Some of the Escort stuff is pretty fancy now with GPS and other add-on's, but I still like the direction and bogey counter of the V1. Have one in both my rides.Bump! Is Valentine 1 the play still?
The new ride is pushing 400hp and I'm frequently finding myself in triple digits

Dang...those things have 400 HP? Holy crap. Just remember the Jeep can't corner like that either. I have that issue when I switch between my Cayman and the daily SUV...I take turns way too fast in the SUV.Genesis v8. Keeping the jeep for topless summer fun and trail riding though. It does NOT need a radar detector

Another concern... It's got smart cruise control / collision avoidance... Reportedly that messes with many/all detectors? Is that true?

So I have a few issues with the V1 and some of the newer car technologies.375HP.. Supposedly 5.5sec 0-60 time. It's a load of fun to drive. The cornering is a very valid point... Thanks for the heads up!
Another concern... It's got smart cruise control / collision avoidance... Reportedly that messes with many/all detectors? Is that true?
My observations:
Audi cars have blind-spot detection that basically makes a V1 out of the box unuseable around any Audi with this feature due to false alarms...probably even worse if you ARE the Audi. The fix is to turn off the Pop detection on the V1. Pretty easy to do and find how-to's online. Once I did that, this issue went away. Besides, the whole thing with Pop is that once you detect it, they probably already have you.
Infiniti and Volvo both use laser for their smart cruise and collision avoidance. If I have an Infiniti or Volvo behind me or approaching, I'll very often get a false Laser alert. It doesn't happen often, and wasn't nearly as annoying as the Audi thing, so I just left it. 99% of the time, when my Laser goes off, I'll see one of those cars within seconds. I think I've only ever had a cop running laser shoot me like twice in the 10 years I've run a V1.
I've never noticed anything with any Hyundai...Neither car I drive has either feature, so I can't comment on how having that on the car you're driving impacts things...only on how driving around those cars impacts me.

Ugh... want it but probably would be a lowball. Looks like they go for $375-400 on ebay. Looking to spend around 300ish.
