Raiders QB Brooks to have MRI on knee

Written by: David White ¦ 9/12/2006

Raiders quarterback Aaron Brooks didn't skate off injury-free, after all.

Seven quarterback sacks Monday night left Brooks with a bruised knee, Raiders coach Art Shell said Tuesday. Brooks will undergo an MRI, but Shell doesn't think it's anything serious. He'll know more when the team practices Wednesday.

Ugh. At least he was not pulled because of bad play (which would have been ridiculous considering he had no protection all night and a terrible game plan).

Couldn't have been because SD's pass rush was like letting lose a bag of cats on the raiders every play ...was it?

If I were Brooks I would have a "bruised knee" too and be grinning ear to ear as I happily turned the reins over to Andrew Walter.

On a serious note...what is the take on Andrew Walter. He had a good preseason in 2005 before getting injured. The Raiders passed on a QB in the draft, I would guess because they think Walter is the future (or maybe because the franchise is in shambles and they are idiots and only know how to draft DBs or Matadors in R1).He was solid in the preseason, has a strong arm, seems to get Randy's approval and is a big strong guy.Considering the always smiling, care free ABrooks is a waste of space....Any fantasy value in Walter for Dynasty or Keeper leagues?

Jerry Porter's probably laughing even harder now.
No, Just fist pumping! :bye:09/12 18:13 Raiders: Porter cheering against teammates? The NewsWide receiver Jerry Porter, inactive for Monday's loss to the Chargers, was seen laughing and pumping his fist on the sidelines after Raiders quarterback Aaron Brooks was sacked for the seventh time on Monday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Our ViewPorter said the report was not true and that he "was not even paying attention to the game." Raiders coach Art Shell said it would be "disappointing" if the report was accurate. Porter desperately wants to be traded, but the Raiders' asking price is rumored to be a first-round draft pick. As the situation gets foggier in Oakland, it's clear Porter will be of no help to fantasy owners any time soon.

They need to "Andy Reid" this guy now...suspend him already. :boxing:

I have brooks as a backup and I'm ready to just drop him. I can't see how he's going to able to pass the ball at all.

Bring on Jeff George!

At least he has a history of yelling at his coach on the sidelines.

He might even wake Art Shell up!

Does anyone else love that his response to this accusation was that he "was not even paying attention to the game"? Perfect.

just as a side note, THIS was written about the raiders:

"They were, in a word, boring. Or in a phrase, galactically boring. Also drab, tedious, inert and thoroughly unwatchable. If not the worst ever, then damned close."

phenomenal

cannot wait to watch my keeper LJ perform like this all yr

btw, preemptive :ptts:

...........and to think Oakland travels to Baltimore next week ! Ouch :o
I was thinking the exact same thing. I could easily see 2 outcomes:
His value could drop to an all-time low after week two, and be a good buy low
he could lose his starting job before week 2 is over
