Raiders | Shoop to help with play-calling?
Sat, 7 Oct 2006 08:48:31 -0700
Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports former Oakland Raiders WR Tim Brown says Raiders tight ends coach John Shoop may become more involved in play-calling with the team struggling to move the ball under offensive coordinator Tom Walsh. According to Brown, Shoop would instill a similar style of offense to that of former head coaches Jon Gruden and Bill Callahan. "I hear they're trying to make some changes, trying to go back to a couple of things that (Bill) Callahan and (Jon) Gruden were doing, but they have to do them in a very subtle way," Brown said in a local radio interview Friday, Oct. 6. "They have a young guy on that team, I can't think of his name right now…he's a quarterbacks coach who was with Gruden in Tampa and called plays in Chicago for awhile." Head coach Art Shell says Brown's claims are false. "I don't know where all this information is coming from, I really don't," Shell said. "There's no truth to that."
