Rankings have been crap lately (1 Viewer)

I dont get how K Boss is the 16th rated TE this week.....Is their not any compensation in rankings based on injuries to the offense? I have V Davis and Lewis...and really am considering dropping one of them for Boss

With all the poor scoring at the TE position and injuries thats probably about right.
It seems he should be higher considering the injuries @ WR, a decent matchup and his performace the last few weeks. Makes a hell of alot more sense for him to be higher the V Davis

What he said. There are 3-4 TEs worth a spit (today at least) and the rest are 4-36 type guys. A few will come up with a TD, and how you determine that with such razor thin margins, is nearly impossible to predict (or "project", as we like to say around here)? When you have what started out at the beginning of 2010 (in regards to TE talent that was healthy), it becomes a lot easier to pick and choose the top 15 based on matchups...but when TE #7 is praying for 50 total yards, and a guy like Robert Royal pulls down one catch on the day that happens to be a TD, the whole thing goes out the window.

Do you really not ever make any decisions that would go against fbg rankings?

With the crap-shoot that is the TE position outside of Gates, Tamme, and Davis, does it really make a different if they rank him #16 as opposed to #8? I do believe that ranking is a bit low considering Smith and Nicks are out, but even in that situation its not like he put up a terrific game outside of the 4th quarter game-winner he marched in. Point is, I don't think they expect too many 32 yard strikes out of him.

Agree totally. For $24.99 a year, I expect 100% prognostication accuracy every week.
I know. Last week they had Chris Johnson ranked as the #5 RB and he only got 5 yds rushing. WTF?? :popcorn:Last week, the ##### was about TB Mike Williams. When it all shook out - the rankings were even higher than the numbers he put up. Who knows for sure - they are all SWAG's.....

This year ranking TEs is about the same as rankings kickers.

You do notice that FF sites never post the results of the weekly rankings. There is a reason for that.

I love Boss this week if that makes you feel better.

I don't want to sound like I'm judging you, but some folks (actually a lot of folks) gauge the intelligence of a stranger-on-the-internet by basic grammar. Just sayin'...

Fair point. If you feel strongly about it start him over the more talented player. He as a better QB and situation.Just be aware that five teams - 5 out of 32 - give up fewer yards to the TE position than the Redskins. Just be aware in five career games Kevin Boss has averaged 2.2 receptions for 17.7 yards and 0.2 TDs.There are, of course, reasonable explanations for the above. Washington gives up a ton of yards to wideouts, and Kevin Boss will likely be featured more than any games that took place in the last 3-4 seasons.Just pointing out there is a rationale for the other side of the argument; its hardly the slam dunk you make it out to be.P.S. I like Boss this week as well.

I realize that Witten and Lewis have put up good numbers this year, and I probably should have put Witten in there seeing as how he has been consistent. However, Mercedes has not put up great numbers against good pass defenses, as seen in his stat-line against PHI, IND, TEN, and NYG. He has only reached the 70 yard mark once this year, compared to multiple times for the others. Tamme has done it multiple times in only 5 games, and never gone under 60 yards. It seems to me that the Jags have also focused on running the ball more, leaving him to block more. As for Davis, he is basically the #1 passing option in the offense although he has slouched for a few games with Troy at QB. So to rephrase, It should have been outside of Gates, Tamme, and Witten. Mercedes is not on the same level.

This site actually keeps track of the accuracy of weekly projections/rankings from a wide variety of sources.
And, though they aren't compared side-by-side with what the actual week's statistics, you can go back and review any of the previous week's FBG projections. For example, here are David's W12 final quarterback projections.

Actually they do. In fact, there's three different independant resources just that I know of that FF sites submit their rankings to and they publish the results of. FF Librarian, Fantasy Pros and FF Crystal Ball. Accuracy reports are out there if you care enough to look for them.

Solution: make your own rankings.Only include guys on your roster.I mean, seriously, how many TEs do you keep on your roster at any given time? The answer for most people is probably two. Even if you have 3 or 4, how hard is it to decide who to start? Does it matter if someone else ranks 14 other TEs (that are on other people's rosters) ahead of your guy, or if that other TE is projected for 7/85 while your guy is only projected for 6/70?

But his other TE is ranked 15th...CONUNDRUM!

with the way things are right now ... 3-4 is being generous
