Ray-Ray trade (1 Viewer)

Dynasty League with IDP ...

I sent Ladell Betts and Van Den Bosch to the Portis owner for Ray Lewis.

I think we both feel we're giving up too much which means it's likely a relatively fair deal. I don't make a habit of trading for aging players but I needed another linebacker contributor for this year to bookend with Vilma. I've got young talent at the position in Crowder, Leroy Hill and Dqwell so the future looks good at the spot but besides those guys my best contributor for the #2 slot this season was either Farrior or Lemar Marshall. Having had Vilma with Pierce last season (traded Pierce) I really like that strong 1-2 punch from the position. I felt that was lacking a bit so I pulled the trigger for Lewis. Whadd'ya think?

 Ray Lewis is a killer buy low guy this year. No reason he can't return to top ten form or better and IMO he's easily the best player in this deal. Essentially, you gave up a waiver wire defensive lineman who you can replace if you're just as astute this season and a backup RB who might not get 100 carries this season for a premier option at a stud position. Let the other guy hope Ladell Betts becomes the once-in-a-decade Priest Holmes. This is how you win championships. :football:

The only potential downside I see is if Betts leaves next season as a free agent and gets a starting gig? I read they were looking to extend Betts so you might have picked a good time to sell Betts high.

Exactly right. Another thread discussed who are the future Lamont Jordan and Chester Taylor's - backups this year, starters in 2007. Betts was one of the few with that potential. That said, he's had trouble staying healthy and he will be a backup in Wash. Ray will be with another team next year but probably has two more studly years left in him. I like the trade.

This was definitely my biggest concern. I can see Betts being this years Chester Taylor, however I'm deep enough and young enough at the RB slot that I could afford to part with him and let the competition hope he develops. As always, thanks for the feedback fellas.
