RB Chester Taylor - Upgraded To Probable (1 Viewer)

This is kiiling me. Anyone hear about his practice today? If he practices I have to go with him. Otherwise, its Cotchery or Rhodes on Flex. Come on sharks lay down some DATA.

FWIW, here's cbssportsline's latest blurb ... I'm still seeing it as a 50/50 prop myself. Also, if memory serves correct, those rib protectors wreak havoc with ball control; which = FUMBLES.

From CBS:

News: According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Vikings RB Chester Taylor (ribs) returned to practice Wednesday and said "the plan is to play" Sunday against the New York Jets. Taylor said he planned to wear protection over the affected area during practice so he could learn how to compensate for the additional padding. "I'm going to work out on it and see how it goes," said Taylor, who is listed as questionable on the injury report. "I'll use every precaution necessary and then just go out and play." Coach Brad Childress said he would watch Taylor carefully to ensure he is prepared for the rigors of a full game.

ETA: SAME INFO already posted on page 1 of this thread ... was too lazy to track back before posting this.

Chester probably can hit some nice extra incentives in his contract if he can just get on the field. No info here, just a comment on his motive to play.

No change to the injury report...

Vikings RB Chester Taylor again came out for practice today, an indication that he should be all set to return to the lineup.

But he still remains questionable, along with QB Brooks Bollinger.

Chester Taylor: I’m playing

Thursday, December 14th, 2006 by Judd Zulgad Vikings running back Chester Taylor, who missed a portion of team drills in practice for the second consecutive day and remains listed as questionable on the injury report, said he will play Sunday against the Jets. Taylor sat out last Sunday’s victory over Detroit because of bruised ribs.

“It felt pretty good,” Taylor said after Thursday’s practice. “I could tolerate [the pain] when I’m running. It’s all about just getting hit.”

Taylor has not been hit in practice this week. He said he has made big improvement since last week when he did not attempt to do any on-the-field work until Friday. “I couldn’t do what I’ve been doing [this week],” he said. “It’s a lot better from last week until now.”

Asked if he’s optimistic about his status for the game, Taylor said, “I’m practicing, so that means I’m playing.”

The Vikings made no other changes on their injury report. Quarterback Brooks Bollinger (shoulder) is questionable; nose tackle Pat Williams (knee) is probable; cornerback Cedric Griffin (neck) is probable; linebacker Napoleon Harris (wrist) is probable; and receiver Marcus Robinson (ankle) is probable.

The Jets also made no changes on their injury report.

VIKINGS

#2 QB Brooks Bollinger (questionable-shoulder) participated in part of Thursday's practice and may be available to back up starting QB Brad Johnson on Sunday.

Starting RB Chester Taylor (bruised ribs-questionable) participated in part of Thursday's practice and should be able to start. Given his sore ribs, he may not get his usual amount of carries especially since backup RB Artose Pinner topped 100 yards in Detroit last Sunday.

Starting WR Marcus Robinson (ankle-probable) participated in part of Thursday's practice and is expected to start.

Where is this from? Sounds like a lot of personal opinion to me. Who said the highlighted comment?

McGahee just slashed the Jets coming off of BROKEN ribs.

Chester can get it done, heck its only a damn bruise.

Friday, December 15th, 2006 by Judd Zulgad, Star-Tribune:

Running back Chester Taylor will be upgraded to probable on the Vikings’ injury report, meaning he will play Sunday against the Jets. Quarterback Brooks Bollinger (left shoulder) remains questionable. Taylor missed last Sunday’s game at Detroit because of bruised ribs but has been able to do work in practice all week.

Childress also confirmed that new Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon has called him regarding Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers. Rogers would be a candidate to be the Hurricanes offensive coordinator. Childress made it clear that anything involving an assistant coach leaving for another job would not be addressed until after the season is finished.

“It’s really an after the season deal,” Childress said. “This is the college hiring cycle right now. I’ve seen his name out there and he got to me way before [his name] got out there.”

Childress said he has not heard from Florida State, which also is looking for an offensive coordinator. Rogers name has been linked to that job as well.

Chester Taylor elevated to probable

Chester Taylor - RB - MIN - Dec. 15 - 4:04 p.m. ET

Chester Taylor (ribs) has been upgraded to probable for Week 15.

Taylor will start against the Jets and is safe to leave in fantasy lineups. We're not worried about the Artose Pinner threat this week and won't be surprised if Pinner is inactive. Vikings coach Brad Childress said earlier this week that the job is Chester's despite Pinner's solid Week 14.Dec. 15 - 4:04 p.m. ET

After reading this on F.F.Today, I'm still a little cautious/concerned about his ability to handle a solid "HIT" to the ribs...............

RB Chester Taylor (MIN) made it through the Vikings' two toughest practices this week without getting hit, a good news/bad news proposition that continues to make his status questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Taylor, who is nursing sore ribs, said Thursday he felt "pretty good" and assumed his practice performance had put him on pace to play. But Taylor admitted he did not get hit in the affected area, so he is not sure how the injury will react to contact -- which, presumably, won't come until Sunday considering the light nature of practices today and Saturday. "I could tolerate it when I'm running," Taylor said. "It's really not that bad when I cut. It's all about what happens if I get hit. I haven't got hit yet." If the Vikings hold out Taylor for the second consecutive game, they would fall back to their rotation of Artose Pinner, Ciatrick Fason and Mewelde Moore. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)

I realize he was upgraded to "probable" today.......but I hope he can handle getting hit for at least 3 quarters............. :lmao:

Man who pee'd in your cheerios?

Yes Taylor did not get contact during practice as he is still healing and they do not want to aggrivate the bruised ribs further. That means that he does carry some risk of being hit hard in the ribs and having to come out of the game because of pain. That is why he has been practicing with a protective vest as part of hopefully preventing such a hit harming him. I think it is likely some medication/pain killer may be used as well to help him play through this as long as that does not risk further injury I expect him play through it.

Defenders will certainly try to knock the crap out of Taylor and see if they can get him out of the game. But seriously think about it.. if Taylor or the HC thought there was a great risk of reinjury then he wouldn't play. He would be listed as questionable at least. He was upgraded to probable. That means they are not concerned about this. I honestly do not see him carrying that much greater risk of reinjury and sitting that a totaly healthy player has.

If you have some seriously good Rbs then go ahead and sit Taylor but I think he has a decent shot of being a top 10 Rb this week based on matchup and the Viking offense.

ALL Professional Defenses are "hard hitting" or these guys wouldnt be in the league. ;)

I worry about the goal line touches.

Are they really going to pound him in there when it isn't necessary? I can see Fason (or Pinner if he is active) getting those touches which would suck.

There's no way I'm starting him this week. I don't care if he's 80%. One shot in the first quarter and he's on the bench. That would suck.

Why would Fason or Pinner get the GL touches when they never have before? Especially when neither of them are the same 2 way threat on a pass or run that Taylor is.

Hey as I allready said there is no doubt that the Jets defenders will be targeting Taylors ribs and looking for a kill shot that could send him back to the bench. Particularly Kerry Rhodes. But the Jets defense is going to have the Vikings Oline to contend with as well as Sause and the FB. The Vikings line is playing very well right now and will be laying a lot of hard hits of thier own.

The protective vest that Taylor will be wearing does increase his chance of fumbling the ball. That is somthing he mentioned and is what he was focusing on trying to get used to is properly protecting the ball with the extra padding in the way.

Jets defense may actualy be more interested in trying to knock the ball out than they will be with trying to knock Taylor out with a hard tackle.

It won't suprise me to see Taylor make a nice cut and cause a over zealous defender miss if they focus too much on the ball or a kill shot instead of solid wrap up tackling.

Taylor is listed as proboble. That is the best his health status has been listed as in over a month. I thought Childress would try to keep things more uncertain than this going into the game. That just tells me that Taylor is really healthy right now.

I have Chester and am starting him with confidence. Fason is no threat, Pinner may take touches, but if Taylor can go he will go. I think he will be fine! Goaline and all!

:Threadjack: - I was thinking the same thing - nice avatar =)

Back to Chester Taylor: I've got him started flex over Brandon Jacobs but I'll debate this up until game time tomorrow.

Avatar infatuation.....OK. Guess what, as much as we have been blessed with the efforts of Chester......he is a huge gamble play this week. Consider Chris Brown, and don't look back. I was one who drafted Chester early.....and all the, this guy did it guessing has no bearing on the Chester Taylor getting 20 carries in week 15. If he does.....it's proof positive that the Vikings are willing to remain "The Vikings"! Hell.... the third string RB that had little time being a Viking did a super job last week. Chris Brown will finally get his chance to show the other NFL teams how good he really is.......some think it's a chance for Lendale.......Fisher want's to win!!!!! :D

wtf are you talking about guy?Chris Brown does not play for the Vikings. I think u drank too much.gllll with your starting Chris Brown over Chester or whatever u are talking about here.. I am still not sure.

So if you were me would you start Taylor or T. Bell or Parker?
The fact that you would start Bell over Parker has me wondering who your other starting RB's are?Taylor or Parker is your choice.I still want to know your other RB?
I just heard on Sirus that Pinner will def. take carries. I don't know what the split will be, I am starting Taylor because my only other choice is Lundi, but I thought you would let you guys know what I heard!
