RB Isaiah Spiller (1 Viewer)

The forgotten man in the Chargers backfield. His value has him as a drop but I'm waiting out through August.

Was once well regarded. I think he's the ultimate sneaky scrap heap guy.

I think he’s still a hold. He has upside still as a 22 year old. Gus is reliable but how much longer at 29. Dobbins has talent but Achilles tears are not a joke. Vidal and Spiller could be running this show by next year at the latest.

Hope springs eternal. There art probably better roster cloggers.

Gus is probably the "youngest" 29 yr old RB in the NFL, at least in terms of RB's worth drafting. He only has 729 touches. Age is not an issue for Gus, at least not for 2024.

As a Chargers fan who follows the team closely, I think Spiller is a long shot to make the final roster unless Gus, Dobbins, and/or Vidal are injured.

RBs should be part of the return game and I think we'll see teams keep an extra for a ST role.
I would guess he does this and if he does well, Harbaugh is someone to give "you earned it" opportunities so...it's possible but improbable he has a role for FF

I think he will get cut.

Yeah chances he gets cut are much much higher than him having any FF role. I don’t do devy but he seems like one of the truly biggest misses in awhile. People really had this guy ahead of a Breece Hall. You can’t miss much harder than that.

honestly I just thought he was a camp body and insurance policy in the event Dobbins falls apart and gets hurt again. Nothing more.

Why all the hatred for Spiller? The dude has never dropped a pass in his entire NFL career! Also, he once rushed for 11 yards before being tackled.

The #Chargers have released RB Isaiah Spiller, source said. A former fourth rounder.
It's official, Spiller is a bum.

Chargers Release Isaiah Spiller From Practice Squad

23 hours agoThe Los Angeles Chargers released running back Isaiah Spiller from their practice squad on Friday, according to a source. Spiller missed out on making the 53-man roster out of training camp and has now been pushed off the team entirely after the club claimed RB Hassan Haskins off waivers from the Tennessee Titans earlier this week. The 23-year-old wasn't able to win one of the last RB spots over rookie Kimani Vidal and will now be free to join any team in the league as RB depth. Spiller failed to make an impact with the Bolts after they drafted him in the fourth round (123rd overall) in 2022 out of Texas A&M. In his first two years in the league, he carried the ball 55 times for 137 yards (2.5 yards per carry) and no touchdowns, adding only nine receptions (nine targets) for 47 yards without a touchdown in 15 games (zero starts).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Net

I had dreams of him taking over from Ekeler a couple years ago. He was a stud in HS and college. A 4.6+ 40 time did prove to be too slow. Had decent other measurables if I remember.

Just from selfish curiosity, I'd be interested in what his financials look like. He earned a little over 2.3M, which is a ton of money, but he's also 23 and likely thought the money wouldn't stop. Getting dropped from the practice squad means nothing is coming in. After agents fees, taxes and other incidentals, he should be able to be 23 with 1M+ in the bank. I hope he was smart about it.

"Would you like fries with that?".

He lived in California during that time, so he paid a lot of taxes. He paid an agent. He paid to live in LA for a few years. He is obviously far ahead of most normal people, but he might have well below $1M remaining today.
