RB Jahmyr Gibbs, DET (2 Viewers)

It is indeed funny to go back and look at all the predraft talk on Gibbs and then especially after draft and even more so after his first 6 games of his rookie year.

Take a scroll through and reminder yourself of what people were saying about Gibbs.
Go check out the Gibbs thread to see how bad of a pick that was.

How is that relevant to anything 3 years later?

This happens all the time by the way... and more often than not, vice versa.

Might be a lesson in there somewhere to be learned for future players

What lesson did you learn from this?

No. Player performance is a fluid situation and not entirely within their own control. People react to what they see... not what they might see three years later. No way to predict this stuff.

Mostly agree with you here. Something comes to be true, and some of the people who strongly believed it would happen take the result as proof that they were correct at some axiomatic level. I have a regular, fair, six-sided die, I tell you there's a 100% probability that your roll will be four. You tell me that's crazy because it's a 1-in-6 probability. You roll it, and it's a four. I do victory laps about my correct assessment and laugh at your stupidity.

Jared Goff says Jahmyr Gibbs is "just scratching the surface as far as routes and receiving. It’s exciting to think about where he could possibly go. It could be a place the league’s never seen before, where he can do certain things at receiver while also playing running back."
Always exciting to read hype stuff about my guy, but what does the last sentence even mean, lol?

Probably written by AI.

Why? To what end?

I would bet that if you asked Jahmyr Gibbs if he is a better NFL RB now than he was as a rookie... he would say YES (after laughing the question).

Didn't you already reply directly to this comment? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yeah, not sure what happened there. Formatting goofiness on my phone.

My apologies to those paying for the data center utilities.

I drafted him in a dynasty startup this offseason. Unfortunately his 1st 6 games cost me like 3 wins.

I missed the playoffs by 1 game in that league.

Still thrilled to have him, and optimistic about my team next year, but yeah - mixed bag this year.

Maybe that he’d be split out wide at a higher clip? Imagine a RB who takes ~40% of his snaps as a WR and is effective in both roles.

As long as DET has a dude like Monty in the backfield they can do it pretty effectively.

PPR beast.

he only had two sub-par games

Acquired my first share of him in one league during the offseason, been pretty nice. Had a chance to swap Jefferson for him in a different league in the offseason and was heavily tempted but didn't take that one because you know, you build around WR's... wish I could have that one back!

Huh? His only dud game was Week 6. Weeks 1-5 he averaged 19 ppg. Respectfully, I’d shift that blame elsewhere than Gibbs shoulders as to why you missed the playoffs.

He was very good. He wasn’t first round dynasty start-up pick good.

his average was solid. The 15, 16 and 7.5 point games were less than awesome.

7.5

The 7.5 point game is one I lost by 3 points. Again, I missed the playoffs by 1 game.

To be fair, I also had awful schedule luck, facing the high scorer in the league 3 straight games.

Anyway,
:ptts:

He’ll be a monster next year I’m sure.

He's 16 points short of the highest scoring PPR player in the league (QB's included). Not sure what your expectations are for a first-round dynasty startup pick. I mean, the fact that you specify dynasty makes it way better than if you said redraft.
