RB Malik Davis, DAL (1 Viewer)

The Athletic's Jon Machota expects Cowboys RB Malik Davis to enter camp as the primary backup running back.

The undrafted second-year back served as the team's third option at the position his rookie season and appears primed to enter camp as the team's primary backup to starter Tony Pollard. The 5'10", 210-pound back is well suited to handle a change of pace role, likely leaving passing downs to be split between Pollard and 2023 sixth-round rookie Deuce Vaughn. In all likelihood, Vaughn is looking at a situational gadget role until he can prove capable in pass protection.

Rico Dowdle?

From FantasyPros -

Rico Dowdle is listed as the No. 2 running back on the first unofficial depth chart for the Cowboys. (Michael Gehlken on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:
Dowdle has limited NFL experience, playing in just 20 games since the 2020 season, tallying seven carries in those games. The 25-year-old appears to have the edge over Malik Davis and Ronald Jones to serve as the backup to Tony Pollard. Fantasy managers should view Dowdle as a valuable handcuff should he hold onto the second RB spot heading into the regular season.

Surprised not much talk about this dude.
That was one heck of a run up the middle for that score, making tacklers miss with that speed!

Dallas needs to get him more involved imo.
J Williams is doing great. But,Looks like it could be turning into more of a thunder n lightning rb dou that could make Dallas even more explosive going forward.

That run by Davis was fun to watch

I got him a couple weeks ago.
IIRC he was the only healthy backup and Dallas radio was positive enough so...why not.

I figured he needs to do something though before the other guys get healthy to show he belongs. Yesterday I think he did that.

I read a thousand Blue articles and listened to people talk of him all summer. There is always something with that kid. No one on the radio seems to think it's just the fumble weeks ago. I think same. Yeah the fumble wasn't good but neither was that he's always got some issues since day one. I wholeheartedly agree with "I hope he spends a lot of time with Derrick Henry this offseason" sentiment. See ya in 2026.

Sooo now that I'm moved on, Blue probably comes back and takes Davis' spot but I'm sticking with my theory that Davis now has a little grip on it

Just like all the Ray Davis owners didn't want to hear me say that Ty Johnson was the guy to own for Cook owners weeks ago. And was right.

Blue had his chance. Dallas now knows Malik is the guy.
