RB to come out of no where? (1 Viewer)

With all the hype these backs have been getting, which one, in a redraft league, do you think has the best chance of producing some numbers towards the end of the season?

-Dimitri Nance, GB: Was signed right after Grant went down, has spent the last month learning the GB offense and was close to getting a chance at some touches against MN. Read Here

-James Starks, GB: Talked up like he was going to be Green Bays secret weapon, doesn't look like he will be used much this year.

-James Davis, WAS: Portis is hurt, Torrain has a history of being injured, Davis to get his chance at some point?

-Jeremiah Johnson, ?: Has some talent, looked great during the pre season with the Texans but had an injury and was released. Was he released from the Skins after they signed Davis?

-Who else can be added to this list?

None of the above - Blount, IMO.

If I had to pick, I guess it would be Starks? All of the above guys almost need an injury so predictions are tough.

Scratch Starks off

The Packers may opt against activating James Starks (hamstring) from the PUP list when his eligibility runs out next week, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Starks has been working as the scout team halfback this week, but he hasn't played in a game since his junior season at Buffalo. Beat writer Pete Dougherty suspects that Starks' fundamentals have slipped so much in two years that the Packers can't afford to carry a player so unready to help on game days.

Jeremiah Johnson was cut when the Redskins signed Davis. But he still gets my vote. That guy can flat play, and all he needs is a chance.

At some point I think we have to see what jdwyer brings to the table. Not cut. Not on practice squad. They are keeping him close for some reason. Right??

Says the Dwyer dynasty owner.

Not exactly out of nowhere, but I think Jonathan Stewart can post elite numbers down the stretch if there is anything to the DeAngelo injury. He's got the talent and with Moore in there, they may be able to keep defenses honest enough to get some room. He's a bull. There are only a handful of backs in the whole league with more talent.

Harrison would be gold if McCoy ever went down.
:headbang: Blount's kind of already emerged.Brown's about as over-hyped as it gets, but he'll probably get some opportunity.Scratch Starks, he was a pipe dream. Nance is interesting because he's starting to see the field and the only other guys there are Kuhn and Jackson. My gut says K. Williams gets passed over again if Torain goes down. Davis?Dixon is interesting because Gore rarely plays a full 16.Johnson has a ton of talent, but no team.Bernard Scott could be a PPR maniac if Benson were to come up lame.

nobody on your list. Brandon Jackson is playing well enough to remain the starter. Green Bay homers have been shouting for a while that it is unlikely that Starks makes any impact this year. James Davis is nothing but an overrated name in the fantasy community. Jeremiah Johnson got cut for said overrated name.

Blount is probably the right answer although Cadillac is going to be a factor for that team. Derrick Ward is another name that comes to mind.

Reggie Bush?!?!?

Thomas in the dog house. Ivory's been decent but Bush could take over the Betts role (and part of the Ivory role) and do a lot with those touches.

Thomas isn't really in the dog house he is hurt. I agree Bush could be big after their bye. I doubt we are going to see much out of PT if at all with the way his injury is lingering.

yeah he is in the dog house............http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2010/..._payton_ha.html (not the initial link I read about it but one that talks about how SP has griped that he feels Pierre should have healed by now and he somewhat points the finger at Pierre)

Last I looked, Payton isn't a doctor. Thomas saw a specialist this week and was told to stay OFF the damn foot, that he needs to let it heal. Payton stupidly pushing him to return to the practice field has been a big part of the problem. If anyone s/b in the dog house for this slow recovery it's the idiot HC who wants to play medical expert.

I'm not following closely, but on Sirius MTC they kinda made it sound like PT could be faking the severity of the injury because he didn't get his contract. That's supposedly why Payton is mad. All speculation though, of course.

I like to consider talent plus an offensive system conducive for success, also you can't predict injuries but you can track trends.

D. Brown- I have a feeling the Addai injury may be serious or recurring

Dixon- Gore has never played a full season

Ringer- CJ has racked up a large amount of carries these last two years and history has shown a connection to heavy workload & injuries

Tashard Choice

The fact that this guy does not see more touches is baffling to me. Whenever he has been given a chance he has produced. I've watched Barber all year and it just isn't there. Plus he should be gone next year. Hopefully with the Boys being out of playoff contention they will get Choice more involved.

i guarantee you Jerry Jones believes they can go 8-2 the rest of the way and make the playoffs. And there's this article today:

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...er.2532a34.html

Jones spent the next 15 minutes discussing the state of his 1-5 team. He opened the door to the possibility that Tony Romo might not return this season, intimated the league's impending labor dispute could factor into the future of coach Wade Phillips and was emphatic that October is not the time to launch a youth movement.
On a possible youth movement: Jones made it clear that if you want to see how some of the younger players on this roster look, you will have to wait.

"We would not, in any way, compromise a chance to win the game by playing a player to evaluate or to give him experience," Jones said.

How does Jones balance that philosophy with developing players for the future?

"You don't, in my mind, do anything five to six games into the season but try to win the game," Jones said. "I'm emphatic about that.

"We will get enough opportunity, usually through injury, to see the players."

Nobody in OP

best bets are

Derrick Ward (we'll see this week)

Stewart (talent is there, right?)

Kevin Smith (one injury away)

Ringer

Deji Karim

Reggie Bush

Mike Hart (Donald Brown is the most perpetually injured player in all of professional sports. Even calling him a "player" sounds weird).
