RB Trey Benson, ARZ (1 Viewer)

Been carrying him and Hampton all season on a short bench team. Still sitting in 5th place. But I have to question if this straight up poor strategy. Both these guys have been cloggers all season.

I would have held Hampton for sure. He had shown ability to be an rb1. Benson is almost a complete unknown. I probably would have dropped him and tried to pick him back up after a few weeks. You are still in the hunt though.

All these injuries that seemed like 4 to 5 weeks are taking 8 weeks or more. Really annoying.

I thought I was him to nmy flex spot

I thought he was going to be in one of my flex spot by now.

Even if he plays next week,I still can't start him bc of the unknown of how many touches they give him first game back.
I'm sure he'll be a bit rusty after missing large portion of season.

I had many miniscus repaired. It was a nothing surgery compared to my rotator cuff n labrum surgeries.
I was back landscaping 2 weeks later.
I know he's playing football,but still.
Seems like a long time off for minor surgery.

People are really high on this guy. I have no idea, really. Best of luck to everybody who is about to have him in their lineup. Heh. He's relatively big and darn fast, that's for sure.

This is the comment of somebody not willing to an express an opinion because he's done and not because of timidity. I'm glad I'm going back through these threads and seeing, in real time and history, how useless this is writ large. Carry on.
I'm not this pro Benson guy that's for sure. He was never gonna be your rb1 or even rb2. Most were hoping for a decent flex. Obviously hasn't happened. Seasons not over though, and things change quickly. Step 1. Get on the damn field.

Oh yeah, bud. This isn't even directed at anyone, let alone approaching your brushback pitch zone. It's seeing the lay of the land. Like what does my comment add and what I am I trying to say and why, if I'd like to say something different, is this coming out of my mouth (keyboard)? That you would even think to comment just affirms my thoughts that you're here for exactly the reasons you should be and you play it fairly and earnestly. I won't go any further than that. I think most people are here for the right reasons, frankly. I don't think many people set out for the day and say, "I'm going to be a ****bag! Won't that be fun!"

Nah, we all bring our lives and pasts to the table and then act within the contexts we choose or are given. And the "we choose" part is really important here. It's actually something that made this thread about me, and it's not, so I'm going to delete it. I hope you'll delete yours. I was talking all about Arizona RBs and didn't see the point and typed that. Deleting now if you'll do me the courtesy and delete yours. if anyone wants it as reference I'll screenshot it. I'm not hiding it. Peace.

eta* actually, i will go further for your own edification and a transparent display of my thoughts. It shows me, by your comment, that you have a sense of justice and have a conscience and it's possible that you feel that when something that you are a part of is indicted by someone, rightly or wrongly, that you've been unjustly implicated for having participated in whatever it was and want to clear the air and your name both for the bystander and maybe also the person lodging the grievance. And maybe you feel the dissonance that obvious personal discontent brings. That is also likely part of it. Well, you're good in my book and probably everybody else's. That's about it. That you have a sense of right and wrong and how to behave and conscience and conscientiousness is a good thing, and I think your comment goes to evidence of it, and maybe I'd like to leave both our secondary comments up.

Thanks and good luck tomorrow.

The Jags game was a good matchup for Bam & Carter, great game script. Still a nice remaining schedule. The Cards released their back-backup RB Jefferson but that might just be about Demercado. The window for Benson stays open until Wednesday next week iirc.

Any homers or those that have been following this closely have any idea if Benson is due back this week? I need a fill-in RB and Bam Knight is available.

Me, a genius, traded for Benson to back up Conner.

They’re both clogging my IR. In a league I’m desperate for RB help.

Are we sharing the same roster? I did the exact same thing this season. In retrospect, not my most shark savvy move.

I’m still optimistic about Benson for 2026. I think he’s better than Bam or Demercado, and I think the Cards think he is as well.

But the draft looms large.

Yep. Good RBs are at an all time low in the drafts these days. They will draft a youngster to challenge Benson. It'll probably be a day 3 pick, but that's seemed to work out pretty well for a lot of teams lately.

looking like a drop. he was worth holding for a while, but i think that's over.
I would have dropped him long ago if I didn’t have an open IR slot. No way am I wasting a roster spot on a guy who may not come back anytime soon. Even if he does come back at some point, is he the bell cow at this point? It’s suddenly a crowded backfield and it’s not like we are talking about Connor here.

I picked him up about a week ago when Burrow came off my IR. Not gonna be able to carry him if he loses that IR designation.

I still have three players on one of my rosters from the original drafted roster. Nico Collins, Brock Bowers and Trey Benson, who has been on IR since September. At this point, I’ve gotten double digits from Bam Knight three weeks in a row. I won’t use Knight against the Rams this week, but I won’t complain if Benson doesn’t make it back.

Seriously considering dropping him in a smaller league/limited bench situation.

Wouldn't start him next week against HOU D anyways, but the next two matchups if I get that far are against ATL and CINCI...two juicy running matchups.

In one league where we have IR slots, there's no reason for me to drop him. But in another with no IR and a 5-man bench, I've been holding on to him for a month and am starting to think I should just throw in the towel. At this point I think it's better than even money he doesn't play at all this year, and even if he does it will be hard to trust him

If he eventually does play,Do you start him which wld be in the playoffs.,No No No!

If he's back against the Texans, worst possible matchup. He needs to be on your bench and f he starts.

The ONLY games he might be startable is week 16 against Atlanta I believe n then Cincy, which wld be great game for him week 17.

Ya wld think if healthy the Cards wld want to see a bit more of what Benson could do as a starter to see if he's the future.

Benson caught 5 balls in last game he played. So he'd be an every down back if he came back. ..but don't think they'd give him a heavy load ROS.

So that worries me if he does play.
I'm thinking lost season. No need to rush Benson back being out of playoff hunt ,
Which is great for Cardinal pass catchers.

As someone with a first round bye locked up in the league I have Benson, my dream scenario is for him to practice next week, show something in a game week 15, and be startable in time for week 16.

That’s a mighty mighty big playoff gamble.

You’re right. But I have a roster that lacks a true RB2. So I might not have a choice if Benson is the best available RB on my roster.

Facts.

I roster Bam and I know who else I'm gonna throw a dollar at so I gotta ask: if you're the organization are you bringing a guy back from knee surgery into a meaningless season with Jacoby Brissett and coaches that look like lamer ducks than the love interest in The Hustler (not the Larry Flynt grotesquerie but the Paul Newman movie). Who looks at the young man in the front office and says, "sure would be nice if we abused that second-round draft pick before he's fully rehabbed with this 3-8 (!) crew"?

Going to re-post this and say that despite this post I would roster him if you have an open IR spot, but maybe not bench spot. If you have an open bench spot, grab one of the fellas on the 53-man roster and look at the teams they play play weeks 16 and 17 and go check your platform's applet for "fantasy points against" for those opponents. If there is nobody available from the backfield on your wire, then after you curse the heavens you start looking and tracking the practice squad, and fellas, if you're not following the beats and looking at the PS to figure out whether your hurt guys are going or not, then put this on a Post-It notepad and stick to your alarm clock when you wake up so that when you roll over and spend your five minutes reading it or whatever it takes you—you will feel motivated and constantly energized and fresh throughout the day.

IT = INFO

Man...holding him is tough. Even if they activate him AZ is facing the HOU D. Not good. You're hoping he's useful come week 16.

So tempted to drop, but would hate to suddenly face him in week 17 with a juicy matchup.
