RB's rest of season (1 Viewer)

Hi all.  My running back situation stinks, please help me figure out which of these 3 I should roll with for the rest of the season.  12 team, start 1 RB, 1 Flex, very light ppr (.2 ppr).  Thanks.

Isaiah Crowell

Doug Martin

Chris Carson

Tarik Cohen

Joe Mixon

Derrick Henry

Are you asking which 3 to keep (and get rid of the rest of them)?  I wouldn't get rid of any of them right now.  So much will change: injuries, byes, changes in scheme, emergence of other players around them, etc.

For now, I'd start Carson and Cohen.  Mixon is starting to emerge as the lead back in Cincy.  A couple more weeks of monitoring of him and I could see him becoming your RB2 soon.  Can't use Crowell right now, but can't get anything for him either.  Martin will return week 5, I wouldn't use him that first week but he could definitely crack into your starting lineup if he takes back over the lead role from Rodgers.  Henry is one Murray injury away from being a top 10 RB, so definitely hold onto him for boom potential.

I know you think your RB situation stinks, but you've got good upside here.  Take it week to week, no need to make week 8 decisions now.

Thanks so much for the response.  I'm sorry I wasn't clear about my roster situation.  I currently have Crowell, Carson and Cohen rostered, others are on the waiver wire.  We only have 4 bench spots available and we start 2 WR's.  So, 3 is the maximum number of RB's I feel comfortable carrying.  Thanks again.

Pick up Martin and drop Cohen. I know people will like the flashy new toy Cohen better but Crowell is a better volume guy-especially with Howard coming back into relevance in Chicago.

Agree with the previous poster that a lot can change. Right now, I'd go Cohen, Carson and Mixon. But I'd probably drop Cohen for Martin, especially if it's a light PPR league. That's where Cohen's value lies. Good luck

You want Martin and Mixon on your team like right now. Take your pick after that as they all have legitimate upsides and downsides but I'd probably go with Cohen. People keep saying "with Howard back" Cohen is somehow going to lose touches. First of all, Howard isn't back. If you watched the game last week, he was legitimately gutting it out. His shoulder is just going to keep getting worse until they force him to sit and let it heal. He's missing games this season, the only question is when. Second, even at full health, Cohen isn't competing with him for touches. They line up in the backfield together a lot, and Cohen is more of a PPR back/slot receiver on a team without any real weapons. Even in a PPR-lite league, he's going to get consistent yardage and touches with his fair share of TDs.

Depending on your WR situation or if you have two TE's or QB's rostered I would really look to keep at least 4 of those RB's even with the short benches.  If you have a solid starting WR group or can dump a backup TE/QB/Def for an extra RB I would do it.  All of the guys mentioned have some value and upside.  I would rank them:

  1. Mixon - starting to get more run with the new OC and has the talent to take over
  2. Martin - Will be the guy on a team that wants to run and will force feed him the ball
  3. Cohen - has a role and is more than just a 3rd down guy.  He is used all over the place and will continue to see the touches.
  4. Carson - I have him slightly above Crowell because I think Seattle will get it together and he will be the beneficiary.
  5. Crowell - Main guy but has to have a certain game script to be useful.  That script won't happen very much
  6. Henry - quick to pick up if something happens to Murray

I would do everything I could to keep the top 4.
