Red Sox / Yankees Game Thread - Aug 4 game series (1 Viewer)

That was about as draining a regular season game as I can recall watching in awhile. Will be interesting to see how everyone bounces back today as the pitching matchup favors the Yanks again.

I still don't get the Joba/Hughes thing going on, but I can't knock this team since the All-Star break.

 
At the time, I thought Girardi's decision to only pitch Hughes for 1 out was insane.

Now, not so much.

Tonight the Sox have a burned out bullpen, and the Yanks have their #1 extra innings guy available.

 
I don't think the Sox will take a game. Absolutely pathetic bats last night and now their bullpen is tired. This team is not making the playoffs I am afraid.

 
What is this Youklis in LF crap? I don't like the guy (only because he's on the Sox)....but that's putting a good player in a bad situation...even if he asked to play there. I know they are shorthanded...but they don't have anyone else?

Not sure how long it's been since the Sox were 5 games back but I'm pretty sure it's been years. They through in the towel in 2006 IIRC.

This is bad. We could finish 10+ games out. I don't like this feeling. Its all too familiar.

Not sure wha puzzled me more, Youkilis in left or the stupid ad behind home plate.23 outlets 8/11/09? WTF is that about?
 
lines pretty even for tonight, Sox bullpen is beat up, although they have a healthy Ramirez :shrug:

 
Then, as they're going to the commercial break, they say something about can the Red Sox score a run or whatever. And he says, "yeah, I work for the Red Sox"...something like that.

Anyway, Joe Morgan's like, that was El Tiante, he works for the Red Sox, and the whole booth, especially Tiante burst out laughing, like even if he does work for the Red Sox, he's not doing ####. :confused:

This was the only part of the ESPN broadcast that was any good.How does ESPN have the WORST effing announcers for their Sunday Night Baseball prime time show?These guys are awful. I wish the YES announcers would call the game. Hell, I'd take the Fenway guys over these ESPN jokers.It's like listening to THREE baseball versions of John Madden.

Wow. That was maximum pwnage.

It's amazing to think that the Red Sox could win the season series with just 2 victories out of 6 remaining games.

These two teams couldn't be farther apart.
