Wasn't there a reggie brown injury thread a few weeks ago, someone replied "who cares he sucks" and it turned into a huge flamewar? That was funny.Anyway, I hope he's okay.

Reggie Brown: Strained Achilles’

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com Aug 7, 6:27 pm EDT

Update: Brown has a strained Achilles’ tendon and probably will not see action during the Eagles’ preseason opener Friday, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.

Recommendation: Coach Andy Reid said Greg Lewis would probably be the No. 2 receiver with the first team alongside other starter Kevin Curtis. Brown’s injury isn’t considered serious.
mabye was favoring his achilles? sounds like he prolly shoulda bee scratched.

Brown has been less-than-impressive in camp and was very close to losing his starting role already. :penalty:
Really? To who?I expected a big bounce back for PHI this season but after Brown/Andrews/Samuel/Sheppard in the past few weeks I'm not so sure. The Westbrook signing seems like the only good news coming out PHI.

The Eagles threw for almost 3,800 yards and 25 TDs last year without a productive Reggie Brown and no other viable WRs. This year they have a productive rookie, a 2nd pass-catching RB (Booker) and their franchise TE back from injury. I wouldn't worry about their passing game. The only things that will keep Philly from bouncing back are a) another injury to McNabb and b) the lack of a resurgent defense. So many people talk about the wrong things with Philly, it's all about the defense getting back to producing turnovers and big plays, the offense is fine.

Brown, sadly, is quickly becoming another WR flop in the Reid era.
DeSean Jackson is legit, no worries.
I thought he had missed time due to injury as well?
He did, but he's been back and playing for some time now.

Hey Jason,

When you say bouncing back do you mean playoffs? I think the NFC East is going to be a Battle Royal this year, it sounds simple but whoever stays healthy the most wins the division IMO. Try to win your home guys and steal one on the road if at all possible.

I think Dallas, Philly, and Washington are all improved from last year and of course the Giants are the SB Champs. It should be a fun year to follow the NFC East.....especially for a Cowboy fan ! *wink*

Jackson is so money. McNabb has been making chicken soup out of chicken #### most of his career. We saw what he could do with a legit WR. Jackson in the slot is going to be a nightmare for teams to defend. I just hope Brown can be a decent enough distraction despite the fact he's awful. Curtis is okay, but I see Jackson getting a lot of targets. In terms of play making ability, it's Westbrook then Jackson, and no one else is really close. I don't want to hear about a white WR, Curtis wouldn't start for the majority of the NFL teams. And Brown wouldn't for 95% of the teams. He's basically a better Ginn (better at returns, 100x better WR) who's "too small" for the NFL. He landed on the perfect NFL team. The Eagles screen pass better then anyone. They will create touches for him, and he will reward them with great production. If he starts showing flashes early, this is a guy you want to jump on in dynasty leagues quick. I'm looking for a MJD version at WR to emerge this year. A "too small" guy who is a pure playmaker and a playa.

I guess I just tend to temper my enthusiasm with regard to rookie WR's, especially rookies that have missed some time.

I agree with regard to the big play nature of the defense really controlling their destiny but their D sack's weren't down that much last season. What really killed them was they tied for dead last in INT... which makes the fact Samuel(learning a new defense) missing time with a hamstring injury that could linger and Sheppard(still rumbling about his contract) relevant as to their success this season imo.

I think the NFC East will be a dogfight. I personally disagree that Washington is improved. A first time head coach calling plays and installing an entirely new offense, a first time OC and major coaching turnover hardly makes the case for improvement. No way anyone convinces me that Jim Zorn and company get more out of this unit that Joe Gibbs, Al Saunders and Gregg WIlliams could, at least not in the first year. But I expect Dallas to win the division and have the NFC's best record. I wouldn't be surprised to see Philly or NYG finish 2nd in the division. I peg Philly for 11 wins on the upside, 8 wins on the downside (and this assumes McNabb plays 14+ games).

I've got Dallas winning the division as well and I think the Eagles and Giants battle it outfor second, I think 10 wins is what to expect from the Birds at best this year and 7-9 at the worst.

He missed 2 days 2 weeks ago...hardly an indictment.Samuel missing time won't matter much...his job is pretty simple...stick to the oppositions best WR like glue and shut him down, pick off a pass or two along the way. Sheppard may not be happy, but he really has few options. He'll play, and if he plays well and stays healthy, he'll get a new deal, or plenty of teams ready to step up in a trade.Few people realize that last years offense still produced great yardage. Lack of turnovers and poor special teams simply left the O looking at long drives all year. Philly will be more then fine this year, if they can just find SOME kind of consistant return threat.

So Steve Smith? Is that where we're at with Mr. Jackson?

I honestly didn't know how much time Jackson had missed, but this is the first I had heard he was pushing for a starting job. In general I'll admit I'm very, very slow to jump on the bandwagon of any rookie WR being penciled in as a solid NFL starter. I'm not saying Jackson won't be one of the very small % of rookies that live up to their billing in their rookie season... just pointing out it's a very small % that do. In Wood's projections for instance he has Brown/Jackson having a fantasy output of 105/43. That's why I was surprised to hear Brown may be pushed out as the starter.I disagree that few people realize PHI's offense produced great yardage. A lot of people thought they had the best RB performance in the NFL last season, you're talking about a guy that had well over 2k combined yards from scrimmage. Plenty of people know McNabb. Their offense isn't flying under anyones radar.
