Reggie Brown traded to the Bucs (3/8/2010) (1 Viewer)

I didn't think it would be possible for me to view a 6th round pick in a future draft as valuable. Until now.
Not sure how so many Bucs fans are encourged by this when all of the Eagles homers are making similar statements. On one hand the organization is talking about the value of youth & draft picks then they go and make a move like this. He isn't a dinosaur but is by no means a spring chicken and he has a history of injury. Tampa acquired it's arguably best WR, Sammie Stroughter, with a 7th round pick last season. I would rather take a flyer on a rookie then sign Philly's Michael Clayton.

Even a guy like Domenik Hixon (who looks to be behind Smith, Manningham and Nix) would be a decent addition and I doubt it would cost much.
I wonder what it would cost them to get Manningham. He looks good every time I see him, and would be more valuable to the Bucs than the Giants.

Brown has had two years of success, somewhat recently and is on the right side of 30. A 6th-round pick in a draft that is projected to be very thin that is over a year from now is almost completely worthless. Philly fans can sit here and act like they're happy about getting that pick, but it may be a selection that is 45-50 picks ahead of the undrafted free agents. Give me the guy with NFL experience and some success for a pick that low and worthless.

Spend a 2nd or 3rd on a WR...struggle to 3-4 wins again...and draft Julio Jones next year.
We are already looking forward to 2011  :loco:
Why not? We know we are not spending money this year, and will not take a significant step forward...but will hopefully continue to build toward '11 and '12. IF Julio is projected to be top 5 overall...and another WR emerges who is also looks like a 10-year stud (AJ Green)...why not be thrifty with spending on that position now, and wait for the '11 'can't miss' studs? Similiar to what you hear about QBs (like us assuming we would wait for the QB studs in '10 ;) ).

---Bucs cut Reggie Brown.

---Man, if Reggie Brown can't make the Bucs, you have to wonder how much he has left.

Another bad move by the new regime. Oh well, at least they are admitting their mistakes quickly.
I don't think it was a bad move at all. They didn't expect Williams to be this good, and they didn't expect Parker/Stroughter to make the roster. Nobody would've called those three.

Not a shocker. Local press has been talking about Reggie having to work his way back to the team. Look at what the Bucs did with Clifton Smith. Not a whole lot of loyalty for past performance. Brown was a longtime journeyman. It was amazing he lasted in the NFL as long as he did.

I do not think that means, what you think it means.

It was over for Reggie Brown this week when the GM said "he's going to have to have a really good week of practice each week to put a hat on (on Sundays)". You don't keep vet wideouts that you need to say that about.
