Reggie's Concussion (1 Viewer)

Search turned up nothing surprisingly. I thought there would be more talk about this because this is 2 or 3 weeks in a row that he's been dinged following a game.

For those of us in PPR leagues, Reggie has been good enough, especially lately, so if there is anything new to share, please do.

Slowly, I'm starting to buy into the notion that Bush may not be durable enough for 25+ touches/game...but I'm not sold yet.

Every player is dinged a little bit after games. Does that prove they are not durable? No. It's just the reality of the NFL season.

FWIW Bush only had 12 touches, and IMO the Saints would have won if they gave him the ball more. They only ran it a total of 11 times.

Bush has 100 total yards or a TD in every game since McAllister's injury. In the past 4 games the Saints have run the ball 85 times (35%) and thrown it 158 times (65%). This has much more to do with playcalling than Reggie being inefficient. He should be good to go, and if Payton gives him the ball there shouldn't be too much to worry about.

And Bush hasn't missed a game. A lot of other players have. I am tired of hearing this "Bush cant handle the load" talk.
I'm really tired of all this "Bush CAN handle the load" talk. Please stop on your end. TIA.
Admitting you're in denial is the first step to recovery. TIABush has done nothing but show that he can be a feature back. Play-calling has a great deal to do with it.
Congratulations on successfully averaging 15 carries per game for 6 games, Reggie. Clearly you're a workhorse who can and should be relied upon for 25 carries per game without any concern for your health or ability to shoulder the load. That 7 carry game just this weekend against the Rams, the mild concussion, and the bone bruise coming into the game were obviously an aberration. You're Hercules incarnate.

Payton: Bush injury not serious

METAIRIE, La. -- Coach Sean Payton stopped short of calling the reason New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush left Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams a concussion.

During his Monday press conference, Payton didn't give any sort of timetable for Bush's return, but hinted the head injury wouldn't be a concern and could have been much worse.

"It's something that we pay close attention to and the league has really in the last year and a half or so spent a lot more time defining the protocol," Payton said. "So we're on top of that and fortunately it wasn't a more serious concussion or something that would have kept him out for a long period of time."

LaMar Griffin, Bush's stepfather, told The New Orleans Times-Picayune after the game that Bush had suffered a mild concussion and was "woozy" after the 37-29 loss to the Rams.

Bush returned to the game after the injury on the next Saints series and scored his second two-point conversion following the Saints' final touchdown with less than a minute left in the game.

"You can kind of tell when a guy is (knocked) out," Rams linebacker Will Witherspoon told reporters after the game. "His eyes kind of rolled back in his head. He was kind of rigid and frozen in position. I didn't see how it happened, but I heard it happen."

Bush postponed a press conference he had set for Monday to announce a charity basketball game during the NBA All-Star Weekend in February. Saints officials said Bush wasn't feeling well and planned on speaking Monday.

Also, All-Pro left tackle Jammal Brown's injury doesn't look to be as serious as once thought.

Payton said Brown's left leg injury is only considered a muscle strain and he thinks Brown will be ready to return to practice Wednesday.

The Pro Bowl tackle missed most of Sunday's game after he left the game late in the first quarter with the injury. He couldn't put any weight on it and had to be helped off the field by trainers. X-rays taken during the game were negative.

Payton wouldn't give too many details about the prospects of defensive end Charles Grant, linebacker Scott Shanle and cornerback Usama Young returning to the field, saying he's hopeful the three will be back

If Bush ended up missing time due to this or any other issue, who is the guy to pick up the slack best? Aaron Stecker? Pierre Thomas?

His eyes rolling back in his head--it sounds like a serious concussion and I wouldn't be surprised if he sat this week despite what Payton says right now. I would have thought Pierre was the guy to have but Stecker has been the clear RB2 so far. Probably Stecker unless they think Thomas is a better everydown back and Stecker is a better third down back and change of pace.

If that was the case, why did they let him return in the 4th qtr of the game?

And for that matter, has he been practicing this week? One would think that would be a clear indication on his availability this weekend. Last week he sat out on Wednesday, but I haven't seen anything that says he's missed practice this week.

Congratulations, Stephen Jackson, Shaun Alexander, Frank Gore, Rudi Johnson, Larry Johnson, Travis Henry, Adrian Peterson, Brian Westbrook, Deuce McAllister, Ahman Green, Joseph Addai, Brandon Jacobs, Jamal Lewis (to name a partial list of RBs who have missed more games than Reggie Bush this season). You've proved that Reggie Bush is more capable of being a feature back than you are.

I will remind you and everyone else that thinks this way... Bush is only 22; hes just a kid, hes been VERY durable for his age and experience level. Going into this weekend; I believe hes was in the Top 10 of TOUCHES (carries and recs) a game. But I'm glad that some people feel this way; it makes it easier to trade for Bush.

He's been a "feature back" for 6 games.

Key part there.Knowing his value and believing he's not a guy you want carrying the ball 25 times/game are not the same thing.

The doc let him return to the game... so its nothing serious.
With all due respect to the doctor, but this sounds serious: "You can kind of tell when a guy is (knocked) out," Rams linebacker Will Witherspoon told reporters after the game. "His eyes kind of rolled back in his head. He was kind of rigid and frozen in position. I didn't see how it happened, but I heard it happen."Why would Witherspoon make this up? The impact was so severe it heard it. Bush went rigid; his eyes rolled back. Unless the doctor did a brain scan on the field I don't know how he knew it was serious or not.None of this proves Bush won't play; the league has ignored the seriousness of concussions for a long time; while it looks like some teams are taking them more seriously not all teams are obviously.
