Let's take a trip back in time . . . ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2009.

- The Top 12 fantasy QBs included Favre, Warner, and McNabb.

- The Top 24 RBs included Thomas Jones, Rickey Williams, Ryan Grant, Joseph Addai, Cedric Benson, Knowshon Moreno, LT, Marion Barber, and Jerome Harrison . . . all of which are basically out of the league or struggling to find work. That's 9 guys right there.

- Randy Moss, Sidney Rice, Vincent Jackson, Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, Santonio Holmes, Robert Meachum, Anquan Boldin, Terrell Owens, Mario Manningham, TJ Housh, Jerricho Cotchery, Braylon Edwards, and Lee Evans were all ranked in the Top 36 WR. Amazingly, ALL 14 of those players are now on different teams. Hines Ward, Derrick Mason, Chris Chambers, and Mike Sims-Walker also ranked in the Top 30 and Sims-Walker can't find a team brave enough to sign him.

- The Top 12 tight ends included Dallas Clark, Visanthe Sciancoe, Kellen Winslow, Greg Olsen, John Carlson, and Zach Miller . . . and all of them changed teams since then as well.

It just goes to show you just how quickly things can change.

That seems like 10 years ago, not 3. That was the year I won with Warner and Ricky.

Pete Carroll: His wife calls him "honey", but to me he is "the TE killa"

It's crazy how quickly the NFL landscape changes when it comes to player productivity.

I remember back in the summer of 2008 on another message board arguing why Andre Johnson was the top WR on my board. Some were saying they would take safer bets and guys that had "proven" they could do it over a full season. Now after 2 or 3 years as a near consensus at the top of the WR board I've seen AJ referred to as old as he comes off of another injury riddled season.

In my mind, that's just another reason to not be shy in targeting the young emerging players who you feel strongly about on your draft board. The nature and physicality of the game makes the NFL truly stand for Not For Long for a lot of players. Especially RBs.

In the olden days we FF pioneers used to crank up the Model T and head on down to our local five & dime on Mondays. There we would buy a USA Today to figure out our FF scores from the weekend. Thems was the good old days.

Wow.. Certainly didn't think Chris Chambers was still relevant only 3 years ago. It sure does change quickly..on a side note David - Are you doing any rankings this year?

Wow Moss is the reason why I hate when people say "he's the safest pick." he went from the consensus 8th pick to not making the undroppable list.

Speaking of 49er WRs, I recall people also saying that year that Michael Crabtree was a sure thing to be a superstar...

5 seconds? Now we have live scoring.Back in the USA TOday days, it was Wednesday (thursday if your commish worked an odd shift) before you had final scores from the previous week).I can remember calling (yes, calling)my lineup in on a ....what did they call those?...land line telephone. Calling a home from a home and talking to the Commish's kid or wife when he was out mowing the lawn. Asking for a call back to confirm receipt...Telling some dude's wife how to spell Favre....OMG what a time!

And then mail the weeks results to the rest of the league.

As a commish, I remember:
[*]emailing myself for the sealed bid transactions I wanted (so I had proof to the rest of the league)

[*]fielding phone calls the very 1st second of the FCFS pickup window of free agency each week

[*]being out of the house on a Fall Sunday and calling my OWN land line and leaving a message for myself at 1:00pm so I would know when the deadline expired.....so that when I returned home, I could tell who "got their lineup in time" and who did not.

Point taken but it is hard to believe Jerome Harrison made the top 24. He was hyped at times and he had a nice run of games but I would never have thunk it.

I remember getting the Tuesday afternoon fax of that weeks scores and leaving ww claims on an answering machine;

Making your own cheatsheets cause none were available for mass distribution;

Having to watch SportsCenter the night before the draft just to make sure no significant players on an out of town team had gotten hurt in the preseason game the night before;

not having the "magical yellow line";

A sleeper was a guy no one in your league had ever heard of... not merely undervalued;

Doing my masters in overseas in Australia and having to wake up/stay up until 1am to watch live NFL games. Sleeping, then waking up to see final scores for sunday's fantasy matchups.

Them were the days.
