Ren's old crypto thread || we know how to buy this stuff now (1 Viewer)

So since Binance is currently not accepting new registrations, what's a noob to do? Just opened a Coinbase account but have nothing besides that.

So, some ground rules.

I'm not exactly comfortable sharing specific dollar amounts. That's just not my bag.

But the origin story is kinda funny with numbers.

I got into crypto because I had honest-to-god $44.23 left over from moving around some gambling monies in 2016. Bah, nice round numbers, let's just leave this amount in there til next time I move things around to handle fees.

I am not a very good gambler on regular sports. I happened to kill it on e-sports. :lmao:  So what originally was going to be a nothing year turned out to be a withdrawal in 2017. Right, how do I get money out of here? Yeah, Bitcoin. And lo and behold I had 800 ####### dollars in Coinbase. What the literal ####??? WHAT ON EARTH?

Look, 800 dollars isn't changing much about a person's life. But it keyed me in to HEY DUMMY MAYBE YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION. I was floating along quite happy with my wife and my two cats and DMing two D&D groups and the huge Nicolas Cage head I keep in my computer room.

I decided the natural thing to do is become obsessed. I like obsession. It gives me an order to life.

<insert 50ish days of this fella.>

<insert the last 25+ manic days of whatever history names this time period>

<2.5x>

<cash out initial>

So here we are today.

I, personally, would get some ETH on CB and transfer over to Bitgrail and get some XRB (they also have a few others but are one of the few that handle XRB), but that's just me.

Another option is to get on Uphold for BAT.

Second of all, I still have only an inkling of what is going on here.

There are far more valuable resources on this board, users that are in tune with this magic that will blow my gains out of the water and they're probably gonna make it. I was dumb, but I also got extremely lucky on timing with Ripple and Stellar and RaiBlocks, which leads the story to now.

My main research was and still currently is to troll social media and message boards for hype. Then check and see if I had missed the rocket ship. Then buy it. Then start reading. :bag:  I'm pretty sure Virgil from Project X would have made more than me. But I did aight.

I've picked the five following longterm holds: BTC, ETH, XLM, XRB, BAT. I'm probably going to wind up holding a little bit of XRP too because whotf really knows.

Deciding on the first all-in now. I've gotta get things converted to ETH and back again and my hardware wallet set up. I was looking hard at VeChain VEN as the first target, but it might be too late by the time I get some proper accounting set up tonight.

Third, I expect to lose on a lot of these. But hopefully I make enough up on the other moon missions to make it.

Strap in imo.

I’m sure it’s somewhere in this thread but has anyone ever had their trading suspended on Coinbase? It just happened to me today and when I grt on chat with support, they instruct me to email support and provide a link. However, the link just brings me back to the same chat page. So damn frustrating!!

Verge is another one to keep your eye on.  XVG

If they get their issues resolved surrounding the release of their Wraith protocol this could skyrocket.

Would you guys dump litecoin? I bought it at the top of the market like a NOOB but now as an experienced crypto something trader I would like to jump into some other things. However, I would be taking a 25% loss. Any hope for this POS catching fire again?

Edit: I do like the volume of litecoin.

Proud owner of 777 BAT. Had I gotten my head out of my ###, I'd own twice that amount for the same cost but I couldn't figure out how to add the BAT card to buy a couple weeks back.

I've got one right now that I'm only holding and will sell ASAP if the price gets close to 300 again.

Not sure if you got rid of it or not yet but I dumped my few coins I had into Ether when I heard about the Litecoin guy selling his stake in the thing. I have since moved my Ether coins to micro coins.

Sold 240 BAT coins in exchange for 746 TRX coins. If TRX goes to where BAT is now... that is triple the money for me on this exchange. Small increments build into large profits.

I'm sure that Litecoin is a respectable hold coin. It'll probably 2x-3x over the course of the year. But when everything else is doing that in a month or two I just don't see any point in hanging on to it. Recover that 25% by flipping it in to BAT, or ICX, or TRX and you'll have it back in no time.

Current holdings:

45% Cardano

30% IOTA

10% TRON

10% Loopring

2.5% BAT

2.5% VeChain

With another 2.5 BTC worth of new cash en route to join the party. Just waiting the 5 days it takes to clear.

Why? Just wondering.
I believe that the Tangle is superior to blockchain. And the entire idea of a coin that handles all the transactions between machines sounds exactly like how the future is going to operate to me. The value of everything that you and I and everyone else purchases or transacts is completely paled by the sheer volume of transactions that happen behind the scenes and are done by machines.

I wasn't around a computer due to work when Ripple was over $3 today... thing is killing me right now.

I'd need to have a few more hundred, I think, to switch some more over to IOTA. I don't know much about it and haven't looked into it either.

August investment wave: ETH, LTC, NEO, XVG, VTC, RISE(blah), OK(double blah)

Fall wave: XRP, ADA, POE, FUN, VEN, PTOY

Just been following the redditors and tweeters trying to jump on bandwagons before they take off.

Feels like I missed the big boat on TRX and it was looking me right in the eye last week.

It's gonna have to go somewhere
Is it? Wealth can be destroyed just as easily as it’s created in this system.

Some People will take their lumps and cash out once the free money faucet is closed. Others will park in BTC/ETH.

The surge of cash leading to 10x/100x booms across the board is lured more by the idea easy money that a new paradigm. Nobody acfuallly believes that Ripple is worth more then AMEX

I'm just trying to visualize what makes this come to a screeching halt other than a mass crackdown from the government.  It's starting to consume cnbc and bloom daily and new money is coming in droves.

I think as long as you got a nice base in ETH your ROI will continue to be stable all things considered

I first decided to open up a Coinbase account on 11/27 and bought ethereum. I'm up about 150% after other moves, too, and decided to pull out everything but my original investment (plus my three shares in the Cav Crypto Mutual Fund) and now I'm just going to be a momentum-riding coin swapping maniac with house money. It's the American Dream, really.

There is faith in the big 2... if I had to guess it would go into ETH. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if it takes the market cap lead by end of the year. I know that’s a hot take but they actually can make the decision to do things to scale and reduce fees. They already have an ecosystem with businesses feeding upwards. More and more top level concepts are being built on ETH. It is the only thing I would consider putting money back into or moving gains into. Could some of these rivals challenge it? Yes, but when? Five year window on XLM or Cardano, not like ETH can’t grow itself and adapt/scale.

I bought another 1.92xxxxxx ETH today to bring my total up to an even 22 coins. I was gonna use the extra to buy a few others but may just keep
