Requesting Jags projections (1 Viewer)

There's a lot of unknown and variance with the new offense, new coach, and new QB....what are you projecting for the Jaguars offense?

Great question.

Hones answer is I have no idea and I have given it quite a bit of thought.

I think Lawrence means their offense improves significantly, but considering he is a rookie QB that might take some time.

I could use usual methods for projecting their offense based on last 3 seasons, but I think its going to be different than that, so I haven't.

I would love to hear others opinions about this though.

This is kind of new ground for me. Prior to the Jaguars drafting Lawrence and Travis Etienne I would have just said its the JAGs so who cares?

Bevell's offenses have done pretty well over the years - GB ( QB coach) , Minnesota, Seattle (OC for both teams). His offenses have been good at running the football, and the passing game has been fairly prolific. I would expect him to be a great influence on Lawrence, and ETN is really going to make this passing game pop.

Urban Meyer is going to be much better than most people think, and this team should be vastly improved in 2021. I think James Robinson is about as underrated a player as you'll find. Meyer wants the Jags to have a power run game and they'll have just that with JR in the backfield. Reports from Jags camp say that Robinson is uncoverable and unstoppable , consistently ripping off big gains play after play.

Jags start the season with games against Texans, Broncos , Cards, Bengals. not hard to predict a 3-1 start to the season, you can make the case that they should destroy some of these soft defenses.

I'm going to say they win 10 games this season. Sweep Texans, split with Colts, beat Dolphins in Jax, beat Broncos, Bengals, Jets, Cards, Falcons, Niners ( west coast team traveling east  for a 1pm game a recipe for disaster for SF).

not that hard to see them winning like this.

Lou Holtz, Nick Saban and Chip Kelly were pretty good college coaches who crashed and burned in the NFL.

The only sound bite I've heard so far is that Urban insist his grown men do not walk on "his practice field".

Care to elaborate why Urban will succeed?

Broncos are anything but a soft defense for this year.  I expect they will be flirting with top 10 overall defense. You sound overly optimistic on the Jags chances. Though I am hoping to see some good upside with the Jags players since I have several in my dynasty teams.

This is insane and I love it. I haven't heard anyone expecting much from the Jags but more like rebuilding. Love this hope and fire

All my stuff is in 16-game season still, so you're welcome to multiply by 17/16. Just haven't put time in to update my projections model base to rates yet in many places.

I have the Jags running ~1040 plays this year (65/game, near my expected league average).

Lawrence: 546 PA, 3931 yards, 27 TDs, 14 picks

Robinson: 125 carries, 562 yards, 27 targets, 22 recs, 150 yards, 4 total TDs

Etienne: 187 carries, 973 yards, 109 targets, 82 recs, 743 yards, 12 total TDs

Chark: 120 targets, 72 recs, 1081 yards, 7 TDs

Jones: 98 targets, 64 recs, 826 yards, 6 TDs

Shenault: 48 carries, 264 yards, 87 targets, 66 recs, 699 yards, 6 total TDs

Other players: 104 targets, 433 yards, 5 TDs

Going to be an adjustment for camp injuries and such (Chark hand broken?) that likely knocks him down a bit and Jones/Shenault up some.

The range I see already on Travis Etienne has him getting anywhere from 1 to 12 total TDs.  Can I bet the middle on that?

Kelly was fine and then crashed. It's dumb pride probably that the NFL (and every sports league)doesn't have 32 teams using the medical technology and gps stuff he did.  Studies proved that scanning a bod for heat is predictive of injury. Will Fuller should buy one of those fancy machines- lot of heat coming from the hammies, rest bro rest.

Anyway....I see it as college coaches reach for more control and flop IR OR they start to treat the pros like high school athletes.

They all earned their big egos. Let's not miss that point, they all won a ton of games.

Meyer seems to have a good 'its my way but I will listen to you' mindset. He's not hearing it all but if someone is a noteworthy football mind, he's listening. IMO that's what Carroll did right his second stint. Meyer can quickly develop a sorta brain trust and be all set. I don't think it would be crazy for him to succeed.

They've got some talent. I think a lot of fans saw Callais and Ramsey leave and brushed them off.

Etienne was a bad pick in this WR heavy draft. Why not get Lawrence his new best friend?

Shenault is crazy interesting and fun. Chark has deep ability and he's a 2 imo. Johnson is just a guy. Marvin Jones is a 2. Austin and Dorsett are pieces. For me, if they landed a top dog alpha #1, this would be a nice group.

Without it, I wonder what Lawrence does when a top corner takes his top WR out of the game and his #2 is really smothered as well.

He throws it to ETN?

We are not going to agree about that being a bad pick, although I do understand where you are coming from here as far as pairing a young QB with a go to WR.

I trust Marvin Jones the most of their WR although I agree with you he is more of a WR 2 than a alpha WR.
