Retroactive Scoring (1 Viewer)

Anyone had any experience with the retro scoring? How do they determine starting lineups for teams that don't exist? Assuming based on your first picks (ex. first two receivers drafted will automatically be starters, etc.)

Why not just let the guy who drafts Portis or Eli declare if he wants their points in his starting lineup? With the possible exception of Portis, every player going tonight will be available to every drafter several times with their week 1 points already known. It adds kind of a funky twist to the draft, especially if a lesser player goes off tonight.

This is the way the WCOFF has done it since they started the Thursday games. The FFPC will do it the same way this year.

Everyone has the same information. Adjust your rankings and make the adjustments accordingly. Might seem strange if you've never done it, but it really doesn't matter since everyone knows what happened. I've grown to really like it and I'm always curious how dramatically it changes people's rankings in the first few rounds.

I could think of two ways to handle it. One already stated, let anyone drafting a player that played already decide if they want to insert them, with their results already known.

Option 2 is that you don't have any lineups set week 1 and every team gets their optimal lineup after all results are known.

I'd probably go with the first option. The second might be slightly more fair, but I don't know that it's worth the extra hassle.

i would say the burress and jacobs will definitely get moved up!!
Don't see why tonight's game would drastically change your rankings. It's not like Burress went off for 260 and 4 TD's (at least not through 3 quarters). And even if he did, it's only one week. If you're sitting there during the draft trying to decide between Burress and someone else you had equally rated (before tonight's game) then sure, maybe tonight makes the decision slightly easier. Otherwise I wouldn't let tonight influence my thinking too much.

 :lmao: :lmao:

Is it really THAT hard to get everyone together BEFORE the season starts? I realize it's "only" 1 game, but you may as well draft after all the week 1 games.

Heck draft after week 17 just to see who wins the league on the same night as the draft. :lmao:

Many/most of the big money contests draft this Saturday. It's really not a big deal. And it's not nearly the same as drafting after all the week 1 games. Only reason I would see how tonight's results should affect your rankings is if there's a significant injury. Otherwise, anyone who drastically changes their draft strategy based on this game is just being silly.

We had our draft on Tuesday but we did discuss having it this weekend. We decided that any Giant or Redskins drafted as a starter for the position would be in your lineup automatically, otherwise you couldn't use them.

For example if somebody picked Buress as their #2 receiver he'd be in the starting fantasy lineup but if they picked Jacobs as their #3 running back he would not be in the starting fantasy lineup.

Drafted last night. One owner drafted Santana Moss in the 9th and Berrian in the 12th. It inserted Berrian over Moss into his lineup. Now he%s asking if he can switch out.

Happened with a guy drafting Tynes and Carney as well. He drafted Tynes first and Yahoo inserted him into the lineup, but Carney played last night.

I put it to a league vote. Looking at it now, I think it%s only fair to give them the points. That%s the reason those guys were drafted in the first place. I%m realizing it%s not really fair to an owner if they never got to set their lineup to begin with.

The Tynes/Carney situation is interesting though, because I believe the owner drafted Tynes thinking he was the kicker last night. Meaning he would have started Tynes. Not sure how to handle that, but I%m leaning towards giving the benefit of the doubt.

Anyone who used two draft picks to lock up the Giants kicking game deserves a zero.

League starts two kickers. And I think he realized the error of his ways and took Carney in the 21st and final round.

We drafted last night. Here are the guidelines we used:

Line-up is QB/RB/RB/FLEX/WR/WR/PK/DT

For week 1 only, any NYG or WAS player must be inserted into the line-up based on their draft position.

Examples:

- You draft Eli Manning in the 7th, and Jon Kitna in the 11th. You must start Eli.

- You draft Brandon Jacobs in the 3rd, and Thomas Jones in the 5th. You must start Jacobs.

- You draft Reggie Wayne in the 2nd, Chad Johnson in the 3rd, and Santana Moss in the 8th. You cannot start Santana.
