Revis done for the year (1 Viewer)

Tough blow.

2013 will be an interesting season for Revis, since it's the final year of his contract. Coming off ACL reconstruction and the Jets cannot franchise him the following year.

Bump Kyle Wilson in IDP - he has to see some nice tackles now.

Bump all passing against the Jets. (been a while since we could say that)

At least there will be no hold-out by Revis next year..he will be happy to have a year left on his deal.

Never good to see a player get injured, especially such a defensive stud.

That being said, it may be time to start thinking about trying for Matt Barkley...although the last/current QB from USC has not quite worked out as well as originally thought.

Add more QB drama in New York....sounds about right. Who gets cut, Sanchez or Tebow?

Not losing faith on the season, but it's gonna be awfully tough with that gaping hole in the secondary.

Rex said it looks like it's a complete tear. It will be interesting to hear if any other ligaments were damaged as well. That can affect recovery time. The one positive is that it happened early enough that he should be ready to go by next season.

You know, it's still unreal to me that Rod Woodson tore his and still came back 4 months later to play in the Super Bowl that year. And that was a good 15 years before guys even returned a year later without significant limitations.

there's no way in hell the Jets will draft another QB from USC.

I would cut or try to trade both...neither is going to be a franchise QB in the league.

How far down does this drop the Jets DST?
Very. I'm not sure how much of this still applies this year, but there was an interesting article last year in SI (IIRC) about how that D is built around Revis's ability to shut down his man. Basically, no Revis means they can't use a lot of their blitz packages that have guys dropping out of coverage in ways that huge holes in the D around him.

Yup. And I think their already weak run defense is going to get even more destroyed. They're going to have to play the safeties deeper and drop more LBers into coverage. That's going to leave bigger holes up front to run through.

What does this do for Sanchez? On the one hand, his passing numbers could jump, given that the Jets might be playing from behind a little more. On the other hand, he hasn't looked that great the last two weeks - and could have some rough sailing if he's in obvious passing situation more often.

I don't own any Jets in any FF leagues - just throwing out the question.

Drop them, the whole defense went through him. Only way the Jets season doesn't turn into a complete disaster is if Tebow improves on last year, they're going to have to win games 16-13.
Only if Tebow plays defense.
Tebow doesn't turn the ball over, wondering if this defense can do enough in bend-but-don't break like Denver last year.
Sanchez has only turned the ball over 3 times in 3 games and yet the Jets defense is middle of the road or worse in yards and points allowed. His problem so far this year hasn't been the turnovers, it has been ineffectiveness. He is dead last among QBs with a 50.5 completion percentage. He's also tied for 7th in TD passes though. Basically he is already playing like Tebow, just making some plays with his arm after missing wildly all game instead of Tebow who makes most of his plays with his legs and a few with his arm after missing wildly and looking terrible all game. Tebow is not going to help this offense or this defense. He isn't the 'answer' to the 2-1 Jets woes.

He threw the ball 41 times this week, I believe, with a less than 50% completion rate and 7.4 YPA. More throws are a bad thing.

i think we r going to see some joe mcknight get some time at CB, he has been doing some reps at practice before this injury, and word is he is a great athlete who had CB in his future years ago, but wanted to be a RB...

fact of the matter is, the NYJ were not playing well as a Team, with Revis. In some way, in this crazy season, this could give the jets a chance for circling the wagons and getting some team focus on TEAM, which has been sorely lacking. Rex was infatuated with Revis covering his side of the Island, and he was spectacular to watch do his thing, but sometimes, in football, you can rely on that guy too much and start taking an edge off thinking Revis will bail you out,

and you know what... it becomes a mindset.

I am a big jet fan, and even with revis in there, they were not getting it done, so on paper it does not bode well. Bbut the team was not clicking by any stretch.

This is a chance to wipe the slate clean, and for the coaches and players to all step up there game, there is still some talent on the field, and cromartie can slide to the #1 coverage guy, Kwilson should be able to get it done at #2, landry is still a very rock solid safety and bell still has some gas left. the LBs need to play better and the line has been rough, they need to step up in a big way..

the offense has been putrid, but there were signs of a chaz schillens sighting yesterday and Sholmes played with some passion, keller will add some much needed saftey blanket and kerley has been solid. Scrapping s green as the starter and moving Bpowell in would make things a tad better in the run game, but the team and gameplan requires a helluva lot more focus than we have seen these past two weeks.

They are lucky to be 2-1, and next week will be a potential bloodbath with SF in town, and then again with Hou on MNF, but then maybe the ship can be steadied some and they can start playing with some pride and fundamentals.

a guy can hope...

The turnovers will come, they were playing with a big lead against the Bills and the Dolphins are as bad as the Revis-less Jets. When the Jets lose their next 4 (yes, I think Luck comes into NY and leads the upset) Tebow will trot out there to start vs. Miami, the Jets find a way to win, then they spend the bye week re-building the offense around Tebow like Denver did last year.Sanchez isn't as bad as he's given credit for, but he's in an awful situation - NY media, Tebow, and little to nothing as far as offensive weapons. He had the defense to lean on, but now that's gone.

:goodposting: These types of injuries could help the team circle the wagons - no one will give the Jets a chance next week vs the 9ers....Rex will have to roll up his sleeve and get creatve cuz the pass rush stinks as well. Dont think its a death blow to the season at this point

or is he.......?

Coach Rex Ryan stated Friday that the Jets will not place Darrelle Revis (torn ACL) on injured reserve in hopes he can return for the Super Bowl.
