Have a good friend who is the biggest WVU fan of all time (Hasnt missed a home game in a decade and he lives in Cincy). I would LOVE for this to happen....Where does he end up now? As an offensive coordinator, or does someone give him another shot at HC?I kinda hope he goes to Pittsburgh.
Agree this would be fun but given the current fiasco at Pitt they aren't going to hire such a controversial character.Have a good friend who is the biggest WVU fan of all time (Hasnt missed a home game in a decade and he lives in Cincy). http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...ans-head-coach/Report: RichRod fired as Michigan’s head coach
Posted by John Taylor on January 4, 2011, 2:40 PM EST
And so it begins.
Earlier today, it was reported that athletic director David Brandon would be meeting with Rich Rodriguez to discuss his future as Michigan’s head coach. Based on one initial report, Rodriguez has no future at the school.
According to the Detroit FOX affiliate, Rodriguez has been fired as the Wolverines’ coach. No further details were given, and there’s no word on when an official announcement will be made if the report is indeed accurate.
Subsequently, the Detroit Free Press also reported that Michigan has made the decision to fire Rodriguez.
Brandon and Rodriguez were reportedly meeting at 2 p.m. ET, so it appears that the conversation basically consisted of Brandon going Donald Trump on Rodriguez as “You Raise Me Up” wafted in the background.
And email sent to the school seeking confirmation has yet to be answered.
UPDATED 3:42 p.m. ET: Here’s a tweet from the Free Press regarding Rodriguez’s wife as she entered the athletic facility this afternoon.
“Rita Rodriguez walks into Schembechler Hall, says she hasn’t heard anything.”
UPDATED 3:51 p.m. ET: AnnArbor.com has an update on Rodriguez’s situation as well, basically stating that, while he’s not yet been fired, he will be at some point today.
Michigan intends to fire Rich Rodriguez this afternoon, but a meeting between the embattled football coach and athletic director Dave Brandon had not yet happened, a source familiar with the situation told AnnArbor.com.
As of 3 p.m., multiple sources with direct knowledge of the talks said the firing had not occurred.
Members of the football team will attend a 7 p.m. meeting tonight to learn the details.
“I don’t know anything,” Rita Rodriguez, Rich’s wife, said when walking into Schembechler Hall this afternoon.
Report: Harbaugh highly unlikely to accept Michigan jobPosted by John Taylor on January 4, 2011, 9:31 AM ESTRich Rodriguez hasn’t even been officially canned (yet), and it appears that Michigan’s top option for a replacement is off the table.According to Michael Rosenberg of the Detroit Free Press, and citing a source with knowledge of Jim Harbaugh‘s thinking, it’s highly unlikely the current Stanford coach would pursue the job at his alma mater if it came open. Instead, the Free Press writes, Harbaugh would likely either stay on The Farm or head to the NFL.Both the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers are expected to make a strong push for Harbaugh’s services.Unbelievably, especially given how Harbaugh bristled at questions regarding his future following the Orange Bowl thumping of Virginia Tech, it appears there’s more than a fighting chance that the Cardinal will be able to retain the coach. At least, according to Rosenberg there is.So why is Harbaugh more likely to stay at Stanford than go to Michigan? The answer was on the field at the Orange Bowl on Monday night, when the fifth-ranked Cardinal (12-1) crushed No. 12 Virginia Tech, 40-12.Harbaugh has built another dream job for himself, and he is reluctant to leave his Stanford players for another collegiate job. If he stays put for his fifth season, he will have another strong team. Harbaugh has told people he thought quarterback Andrew Luck, the presumptive No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, will return to school next year.If Harbaugh and Luck are both in Palo Alto next year, Stanford could contend for the national title. If Harbaugh is not in Palo Alto, he figures to be coaching in the NFL.If RichRod is ultimately dismissed and if Harbaugh is indeed out of play — we’re still not ready to rule him out for Ann Arbor despite the report — where would Michigan turn?Brady Hoke of San Diego State would certainly be an option. Hoke, a former Wolverine assistant, has not hidden the fact that he considers Michigan his dream job. Then again, athletic director David Brandon could always (shudder) retain Rodriguez and his 15-22 record. Regardless, the head coaching picture at Michigan should be clearer during the latter portion of this week.Or, if RichRod is retained, just as muddled as ever.
UCONNWhere does he end up now? As an offensive coordinator, or does someone give him another shot at HC?I kinda hope he goes to Pittsburgh.
yes?Wow, wasn't that long ago that he was the golden boy.Did he suddenly forget how to coach?

Harbaugh's pretty much going to the NFL or staying at Stanford. So what's the hold up? Is Harbaugh getting cold feet? Are they trying to negotiate with Chip Kelly??
The team was slopping on both sides of the ball.... penalties, bad turnovers, missed assignments, bad tackling, etc. That's on the head coach. Plus, the offense was only really good when it was going up against a bad team. In the big games this year, the offense wasn't very impressive.saintsfan said:Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't Michigan have a really good offense this year with no defense?? Why not just make him fire his defensive coordinator and get a good one in there??IMO, somebody in the Big Sl0w needs to embrace the spread and come into the 21st Century. All this "Michigan man" stuff is what had people in the South laughing at Alabama for a couple of decades as they tried to dig up Bear Bryant.Rich Rod didn't forget how to coach overnight.
Oh, OK. I saw them early in the year and they looked good on offense. However, they do need to watch the "Michigan Man" thing. Bo is dead and he's not coming back. You are Michigan. Find the best coach you can, regardless of whether or not he is a "Michigan Man."The team was slopping on both sides of the ball.... penalties, bad turnovers, missed assignments, bad tackling, etc. That's on the head coach.
